After School Will Promote with Hello Kitty

After School has morphed into the popular character ‘Hello Kitty’ for their Japanese debut.

After school’s promotions in Japan will be helped by collaborating with the Hello Kitty brand. The Japanese version of their hit song ‘Bang!’ was officially released on August 17th.

Each member will have an animated Hello Kitty personality made from their distinctive charms. The full range of products will be available to the public on September 10th.

After School partners up with Hello Kitty

The ladies of After School became the style muses for the latest Hello Kitty collection!

As part of their Japanese debut promotions, the girls teamed up with the popular Sanrio icon, who channeled the girls’ marching band outfits and hairstyles. There will be eight different designs available for each of the eight members, and the dolls will be sold at After School’s mini concert on September 10th.

The girls are already causing a sensation in Japan thanks to their drum performance for “Bang!“. On August 17th, they held a showcase in front of 3,000 people, and tickets were reportedly sold out in just one minute. After School will also be taking part in the big J-Pop concert, ‘a-nation‘.

Bang! Oricon Daily chart position debuts at...

#6! Is pretty awesome considering last week Kiss-My-Ft.2 debuted and still might be toping the charts. If they manage to keep it till the next week, it'll be officially a pretty good debut considering how tired some of the Japanese people are of Korean groups debuting.

the girls have already started preparing for their next comeback:

--The collaboration song with Amuro Namie, "make it happen" was big news. After School is also gaining attention for U-ie, who played Yoo Heyi in the drama "You're Beautiful," being a member. Finally, you guys are debuting in Japan!!
U-ie: The reason we chose "Bang!" as our Japanese debut song is because we felt it best represented us.

--The performance with the drums is a highlight. I heard that the MV full of sex appeal and coolness was shot especially for the Japan debut.
U-ie: Yes. The marching band performance was an idea our leader Kahi thought up of after being inspired by the movie "Drumline." Brainstorming during the shoot, saying, "I want to do this," leads to the next work's performance. That's a common occurrence.

--By the way, I heard you guys practiced the drums for an incredible 8 months.
U-ie: Actually, we've already started practicing for our next work. We've been told it'll take 6 months too.

--So those cool performances are a result of effort and practice.
Juyeon: We also work hard to wear the sexy outfits we're known for ( ). The outfits for "Bang!" shows our midriff, so we exercised with hula hoops and did crunches.

--Expectations are high for your success in Japan, so are there things you would like to try in Japan?
U-ie: I would like to vacation in Hokkaido. Hokkaido has a lot of delicious food, right? I loooove to eat.
Juyeon: I want a close friend that I'm able to talk with about each other's country. But most importantly, I want to be an artist loved by everyone in Japan. For that, I have to improve my Japanese first.
U-ie: Ganbatte kudasai!!
Juyeon: It's "ganbari masu" ( ).

[I think the last U-ie/Juyeon bit is like U-ie telling Juyeon good luck and Juyeon saying that it's not just her, that U-ie is to going to have to work hard too because they're all in it together. But I can't be 100% about it.]
