I agree with what's being said about FEEL's covers. After SWEET 19 BLUES covers, these are my favorites.

Design Wise with art and visual concept I wasn't disappointed. Music Wise I was. I know I'll probably get ganged up on for this one, but I MUST be honest. Pardon the pun, but I'm NOT entirely feeling this album.
This is a short review I posted on CDJ. Sadly, they wouldn't let me make it any longer as I really like to speak my mind and explain myself thoroughly on reviews, both positive & negative ones. Namie goes very American with this album and uses more English then ever before. Personally, I feel it both does and doesn't work for her with this CD. It's not terrible by any means, but it's definitely not her best either. 1) This track feels like it's trying to build up to something but can't quite reach its peak. I'm disappointed with it tbh. Even the PV lacks. 2.5/5 2) Very upbeat fun song. 4/5 3) Very cute. Mostly in English with a tiny sprinkle of Japanese. Sadly, not sure why but when they say "let's start this day in a big way" it reminds me of another song which I can't quite put my finger on. 3.5/5 4) I've had a love-hate relationship with BBC since day 1. Just feels too unusual for my personal taste. The PV has a very Xmas theme to it, which is cute but feels out of place. 3.2/5 5) One of my favorites on the CD. It's sexy and incredibly fun for summer. Great dance track. The PV is awesome and TLC even makes a cameo which is great. 5/5 6) I get such a retro dance club feel from this song, which isn't a bad thing in the slightest. It's a lot of fun from start to finish. 5/5 7) Interesting track that I like. Just it reminds me of something, but don't know what. 4.2/5 8) Like it, but I'm not totally nuts over it. 3.5/5 9) It sort of reminds me of B.Spears meets KPOP meets US 90s song Kiss From A Rose for some odd reason, but I kinda like it. 3.2/5 10) The first ballad on the album. Her English pronunciation is pretty good through this song. I get a real retro feeling from this as well, which I love. It's very sweet sounding. Also, I loved the piano touch put into the PV. Beautifully done. 5/5 11) Another favorite of mine. Sorta mid tempo upbeat fun song. Not sure how to describe it, but very lovely. The PV's gorgeous too. 5/5 12) A lovely finale to the album. I also felt it truly deserved a PV as well. 4.8/5 The digipak is very nice and well designed. Only tiny complaint is that they put the tracklist on a sticker on the OUTSIDE of the plastic wrap. The quality of the BR is fantastic and makes owning it over the DVD edition SO worth it. Plus if you click on Namie's nail on the menu it brings up a hidden Making-Of Video, which is SO much fun to watch. Last edited by ILoveGeniuses; 17th July 2013 at 08:16 PM. |

The album is way too american for me, I liked when it leaked, but im growing tired of it. Some of the songs sound like they belong to any random american pop girl, they lack "Namie feeling" everywhere (Rainbow, Stardust in my Eyes...)

I am not a HUGE fan of Namie, but I always check out her works when she releases something, because there are those odd cases when I do love something she puts out there. And really I think her previous Japanese works had more character. I mean, they were all her own - unique in a way.

Okay lol no you're right, i guess "idea" would be a better word for it. Either way it wasn't executed well. Quote:
WILD, Past<Future, Go Round, PLAY, 60s70s80s and now FEEL of course, are probably my favorites. I always found Best Fiction to be heavenly overrated (the font is absolutely horrid) But it's been growing on me for a while now, i love it! I also have a thing for the Put 'Em Up cover, which is actually pretty bad lol. But she looks hot to death in that pic, should've been the Style cover in my opinion! Queen Of Hip-Hop was her worst era in terms of artworks imo, everything screamed "tacky" except the album cover. I haven't done anything with that picture sadly, i couldn't save it even if i wanted to ![]()

@SoldierofSilence, you have pretty much the opposite viewpoint as I do on some songs, but a very fair review. I agree with you on a few points.

![]() Not being shady, just sayin'. Hahah. Uncontrolled had a concept. Not entirely concrete, but a concept. The word can be used fairly loosely. ![]() Quote:
I really like Put 'Em Up too. She looks fierce. STYLE era was one of my favourites, as it's my favourite album. I miss hoodrat Namie... Quote:

Well, no surprise for Namie #2 today...but I'm pretty surprised about NEWS' first-day sales, compared to Namie's 111,458 last week...how would this shape up if Namie actually went head-to-head? Any regrets or something here?

I feel dumb for asking but where does this "supplies" reference come from?

From Namie's pronunciation of "no surprise" from her song Beautiful.

The problem for me with Namie's earlier works, is that while they have charm, a lot of them, for me, have a really...basic, or unfinished, or generally funky sound.
This album might be generic, but it has a more polished sound to me. I hope that in the future, she can bridge these two things. She has some songs that do to me. Like Yeah Oh, Sexy Girl, Do Me More, WILD, Dr...etc. Her best older songs, for me, tend to be the ones that are polished, but retain her sass and her hip pop sound. I like this album though, because, it's a generally happy album, that's just full of life, and that...I don't know, it feels special in some way for her. So it's a special album for me and my favorite, but....idk if I'd care for her to always have this sound, and this feel.
