[News] New mini album out August 5th, 2015

I don't see the point of hoping it will sound like something you can hear from other artists. Especially if those artists are mainstream.
If I want to listen to something Gaga or Farmer have already done I would listen to them. And the fact is I absolutely don't want to hear them.

I want something fresh, creative, professional. I'm sick of pop stars recycling, copying each others, using the same producers.

I know pop is supposed to be commercial and safe but ayu has already proved she can put her voice on something a bit different.

Lonely Lisa is something that would really fit Ayu's style.

Yeah I did too and posted the same videos above haha. And I think we both agreed a year ago that Lonely Lisa would be something right up Ayu's alley.

But that's the thing. Ayu never did pop stuff with American producers. So she did put her voice on something different, music composed and arranged by non-Japanese producers. I like the aspect of Ayu experimenting with compositions like that. And yes, if you want RedOne go listen to J.Lo or pre-Born This Way GaGa, but it doesn't hurt hearing Ayu's vocals and lyrics.

And besides, Ayu + RedOne have proven to work out well; and they all obviously like working together. Slay me Ayu.

As I always say Ayumi may be a queen, but Mylene is a goddess. I don't think that Lonely Lisa type of song is a good fit for Ayu, it's all about Farmer's iconic high notes, this song could work only with her voice.

My all-time favorite from Mylène Farmer is and will remains the song Point de Suture.
I just find it beautiful, like a ballad level 99, with a voice and words that make me shiver everytime I hear it. The sound of the music is just hypnotizing.

the next LOVE was an awesome song. I would totally go crazy over another tune with a similar style. (Note: this doesn't mean I want the SAME song but something SIMILAR to it. XD )

Honestly though, I am not putting much thought into how this mini album will turn out.

It bums me out that so many people seem to dislike XOXO. It's such a smooth listen. I agree that a Lonely Lisa type RedOne track would be cool though.

You are absolutely right about that PV to XOXO.

I actually liked that song a lot...and then I watched the PV. I usually try not to let those things sway my opinions but WOW. That PV ruined the song for me.

I am not even exaggerating, I cannot listen to that song without seeing Ayu bobbing her ass up and down on top of a limp body on the floor. I've tried to forget it buuuut... It doesn't work. XD

I like xoxo, actually haha. The video on the other hand... Doesn't work for me. The videos are the reason Colours failed to impress me. Merry-go-round was the best video (or the most effective?) for me.

XOXO is a wonderful song, one of my favs from COLOURS, but yeah, the video is pretty atrocious.

I'm hoping the new mini will be another chance for Ayu to do something different. We just got A ONE which was kind of a throw back to classical Ayu sound, so I'm thinking the mini will be something different.

I wasn't a fan of XOXO even before the video... I love pre-Born This Way Lady Gaga, I love the stuff RedOne was putting together with Porcelain Black, and I ADORED Ayu's cover of Movin' On Without You. XOXO was a flat, dull disappointment by comparison - fun song, sure, but shallower than a kiddy pool. I want Ayu's stuff with RedOne to sound more like the rest of that list, you know? Grittier, heartfelt, more honest, more deliberate.

And regardless of who Ayu works with, that's what I like to hear from her - the honest, multifaceted stuff with music and lyrics that are custom-tailored to fit one another. That's always been her best work, and that continues to be the case.

I have a feeling that the demo was a lot like what we got in the actual track. I'd have liked her to take it in a different direction like Beautiful Day though rather than do the Bold & Delicious thing if that is what happened.
