^ No. Bands are the "it" thing right now. SNSD, BIGBANG, 2NE1, f(x), AKB48... And I guess Ayu's music for a while now is more directed to the older generation. I mean, as Ayu gets older, her fans get older or something. Hhah, I really don't know what I'm talking about.

ExodusUK nailed that one. Either her or her management knows she can't win even if her name gets her nominated. They've shown with no singles since her 50th that they have no hope of her setting any more records, they know someone will out sell her on any given week now. It's their own fault too, the way they keep changing publicity to suit the current release you can put her interviews side by side and they have opposing answers to the same questions. Like the most noticable example, for PQ she was answering radio interview questions about sleeping in a big shirt and no underwear & the last few times that subject came up Peach John was designing her new pajamas & she was shopping for whole collections of flannel pajamas in every color while in LA. Making the PQ interviews obviously scripted garbage for the current image. Wait til the next album and more answers will change,

This ! She said herself in the NTV reportage back in 2004 that after she won for the third consecutive years the Nihon Rekōdo Taishō in 2003 that her era was over ... I really like the fact she is very aware and honest about her carrier =)

She said that so she wouldnt be nominated again. She was ending it herself. She considered it unfair to everybody else... and to be honest it was.
I think she would of won again for moments or carols if they nominated her.

Exactly. How many awards would she really even be nominated for today? Especially something like this EMA award, she wouldn't stand a chance against anyone else nominated.

The EMAs are the music awards of MTV Europe. Made more sense back in the 90s when there was an actual station called MTV Europe. (ah, good times) They had VJs from all european countries and the first awards were awarded in 1994 in Berlin. It's been a long time. These awards are the european version of the VMAs but they also award them to american artists (of course) and asian artists (just started that last year where BIGBANG won)......

Can you really see a lot of people outside of the jpop fandom or who aren't part of the culture who live the aesthetic choices behind Season liking it? Can you really see Seasons getting radio airplay and being on repeat on any western MTV?

Sorry, but I totally can't. Either because of the song, it's arrangment or Ayu's voice. Her eletronic or rockish stuff has far more appeal to someone who isn't into japanese or asian music than Seasons, or anything she did before Memorial Address.
