No, Ayu has a lot of other composers, and she hasn't worked with DAI in a while. It's good to hear that DAI doesn't have a problem composing for other people, just with composing for people that Avex picks for him. So it sounds like he'll still go on composing, no matter where he goes.

Although Ayu and the singer of Do As Infinity (Ban Tomoko?) seem to be friendly, I don't presume to understand DAI and Ayu's relationship. I read somewhere that they weren't on good terms until they decided to put aside differences and write "Dearest" (even though he had composed for her before then). But DAI has done sooooooo many songs for Ayu, I can't help but think that he would see her as part of the problem here, at least indirectly. Ayu/DAI songs have always been hits, and I'm sure Avex (and/or Ayu) really pushed DAI to write for Ayu above all other artists (does anyone know how many songs he's done for other people?). If he and Ayu were good friends, chances are he wouldn't have a problem composing as much as he has for her. But apparently he does have a problem, and wants to write for other people of his own choosing.

I just wonder if he'll be allowed to work with Avex artists if he breaks from them. I'm not sure how those rules and contracts work, but even supposing he goes freelancing w/o being under contract w/ another company, if Avex decides to be spiteful and stupid, they might not accept his work for any of their artists now (which wouldn't help them, but still...).

DAI didn't do any work at all on "MY STORY," and that was a big, 17 track album. He also had nothing to do with "STEP you/is this LOVE?". 19 songs. That's a long time to go without him, considering how intently she depended on his music before then (appearing several times on every album except "A Song for XX" and now "MY STORY"). If Ayu really is, as it seems, thinking of moving away from rockier music (like DAI mainly composes), then it won't really affect her at all. At least not on a business level.

She's working with BOUNCEBACK a lot recently, who writes a lot of dancepop-type songs. But she's still keeping a bit of rock influence in her dancepop songs. Her style really is evolving.

He/she probably just means stuff along the lines of "STEP you" and "INSPIRE". They seem to be more common in today's Ayu - after a lot of rock, she's edging back to her roots, it seems: an evolved, rock-infused form of what "A Song for XX" was originally aiming for.
Thanks a lot for the translation evoluysean. However I have to say that, even though there might not be much credibility in such article, the evidences it show seem very real. DAI has not been composing recently. Nt even for Do As Infinity, if you notice their sound has changed for the worst because DAI is not composing for them anymore. As for ayu, no MY STORY songs seemed to have DAi under the compositions andher recent single STEP you/is this LOVE? also showed that DAI is not collaborating with ayu anymore...so where's him? Most probably something has happened. The evidences ths article show seem actually pretty real, I think Dai Nagao is under an unstable situation towards avex trax.

[EDIT] Oh I've just read your last post but only after I wrote the above setence.

DAI (Dai Nagao) is denying the info in that article on the official site of an artist he produces (apparently :shrug):

Thanks for the heads up on the news, nmskalmn! That statement just mentions this article a little, and mostly talks about the band DAI is working with. Here's my translation!

- Report -

Today, due to one blank page space (?), an article about me, DAI, was published; but the facts regarding the matter expressed were completely groundless.

It's just over 2 months until Amasia Landscape's 27 July release. Now that everything has started concretely moving along, it's making my chest swell with big expectations.

Everyone involved, including Amasia Crew and myself, are striving to create with all our might, in order to always deliver to you our best works. Thank you for always supporting us and cheering us on.

Furthermore, I hope you all have peace of mind regarding this issue. I truly apologize from my heart for any worry this may have caused you.

His language is soooo formal and uber polite! I wonder if he's always like that, or if this whole thing really just upset him.

So DAI denies what the ZAKZAK article says. I suppose we'll see how it plays out from here.

No, why? I think that CREA + D-A-I works are the best.

But, I really doubt that Ayu is heading to the hip-hop and reggea type of music. She's much more rock than hip-hop. Anyway, if her music becomes hip-hopish, I'm not to sure if I'm still gonna listen to her new materials. I hate hip-hop and reggea...
