I'm... probably alone in this but, I preferred the French rather than the Japanese in this song. *runs and hides*

I think that it was more of the arrangement of the song that bothered me more than her French.

This, yeah . Her french, sounded fine to me, just the composition itself that made me not like it very much.

Any fluent french speakers from France mind explaining to me exactly why her linguistic skills sound horrible?

You don't have to be French to be able to hear someone sound like they're singing in Spanish, lol.

Can't believe we're still talking about her French. Personally I love the whole song except the long ending music. It only sounds nice while driving on a sunny day .

They're also by far the most expensive headphones I've ever bought, so that's another reason I just HAVE to use them
So how's the headphone so far? For me, it doesn't have a really strong bass, but it gives crispy clear sound (sometimes I used it while my brother lay it on the coffee table hehe).

You basically described it perfectly yourself. No heavy bass but the sound really is crystal clear. Usually only small earphones give that clear a sound, and headphones give a duller, more blunt sound but very bassy. This one doesn't but I actually prefer the clearness.

I love them! It really makes me feel like I'm inside the music. Just my own little world, and the song.

We will never know... most of people bashing her french here don't speak french themselves...

which is why I don't mind her french. She apparently likes the language. She had a line of french in bwk, and during wild life tried to get everyone to say bonjour.

I liked her French. Personally, it was better than other people's attempts at singing another language than their own...

(*cough* Beckii Cruel? *cough*)

I enjoyed the song, I thought her French was at the worst, passable, and meh, if you don't like it, you don't have to like all her music

that was the funniest thing ever.

but like I explained, it's like Ayu or Namie singing in English, and then singing in Japanese, which do you prefer?

I guess I just personally like them singing in languages they don't sound like jokes in.

but hey I guess, at least it's funny...

^Agreed. If this was anyone but Utada singing in another language they weren't fluent in (ie singing in English) everyone here would be all over them, but its a nice double standard I guess.

And I didn't realize only people in France could speak and understand French. Fascinating.

Anyhow, I believe Utada said that she would learn French during her hiatus. I guess she really likes the language. I know the Japanese have a major obsession with French names and the like for their stores and clothes but things always get lost in translation somehow, lol.
My SG2 is in the mail. Thank god for OS versions.

namie and ayu have songs with engrish but I wouldn't stop listening to the songs.

^Yeap... and I don't see what's so wrong with Ayu's post RAINBOW english... I can't understand what she is singing in Real me, for example, but I never had problems to understand her english after that....

@Yumsushi Well, I don't know about u, but most people who said Utada's french didn't sound like it should, also said they don't speak french themselves, what's IMO is enough to think they don't really know the language :B As I don't speak french, I can't say if her pronounce is good and how heavy her accent is, but I would love if someone who does speak it could say how good or bad it was....

And even if it was awful, most jpop singers put other languages (mainly english) on their songs and people don't complain about how bad it sound or how wrongly they write it on the lyrics

Well, personally, as someone who's studied French for two years, I think her pronunciation is totally awful.

Any fluent people who'd like to disagree are perfectly welcome to though.

I WOULD complain about the awful english...but it's so commonplace lol

But honestly, I think it really is more the music just emphasizing it...If it were more upbeat, the melody, she'd probably do a better job.

so whatever...I guess this is what it's going to be like now that she's going to have no news

Well, I like to make fun of Namie singing "Hey DJ, more hot!" or about how I need to read the lyrics to understand on what language she is singing... Still, the worst IMO was BoA saying that "Valenti" was in portuguese... Please girl, at least check the words before releasing the single/album xD

As someone who's studied French for 5 years, I say you're all nitpicking.

It's not that bad honestly! At least she can pronounce the French sounds. Like the French r. "Et la terreur", she really used the French r not the English (or worse: the Japanese) r.

And come on, it's FRENCH. A less common and more difficult language than English. Why aren't we complaining about "das das das duu it ugen"

I like the French, so no complaints here. I actually would have liked the entire song on French.

I got the english verses on "do it again" on the first listening of the previews xD No complains about that...
