i hate the fact that because someone doesn't like a song or something it automatically equals crap...
which is not true... just because you dont like it doesn't mean its bad... its just not your taste...

Not picking on anyone, just saying.

Well to them it is crap. When I dislike something I really have a tendancy of tearing it apart (using words like "atrocious" "garbage" "loathe", etc.) but it's just to emphasize exactly how much I dislike a song. Exaggeration is part of good writing.

I'm not talking about personal opinions or anything...
I'm talking about the actual music.
Meaning you have to be objective when listen to music. Just because you dont like it, it does not mean the music is crap.
I do not like jazz music, but all jazz music is not crap. (see what Im trying to say)
i try to be objective when I listen to anything, and although my taste get in the way I still see it as a good song for some. it's just not for me.

i think what i was going for was more objectiveness instead of just hating something because you dont like it... (that leads to a lot of problems... lol) - however this is a thought thread...

^^I get what both of you are saying. But like, take your jazz comment for example. I don't like jazz music, and to me, jazz music IS all crap. It almost hurts my ears. I have absolutely no desire to listen to it.

I'm sure plenty of people enjoy it, I'm just not one of them.

Haha, yes. But at the same time, I have very solid reasons on not liking something. The melody is weak, the production/synth is cheap, etc. I try to elaborate on why I dislike something. But as far as hating a certain genre of music regardless of musical structure/production, for me that genre is rap/hip-hop. Ugh.

For me, objective opinions are the most ideal. I favor them personally in my own life. I really like to hear all opinions and all sides of certain things before I make decisions...and I would love for other people to do the same.

When it comes to music, of course I'm going to have my own opinions right off the bat, but I still take and value everyone else's as well. People usually will have really good things to say about why they feel a certain way, and I like that.

For example, I don't agree with people about Timmy...but I certainly see where they're coming from.

But anyway, it's not really up to me to hold people to being objective all the time...and certainly not when they don't want to. Like I said, it's my ideal...but well...life isn't ideal lol

Besides...being objective all the time gets really tedious and boring. You have to admire all the colors of the rainbow

Anyway, that's something I learned from being here this long.

You could always still choose to be respectful about it, or constructive, but on the other hand, I get that people don't always want to tread lightly and be super sensitive to how everyone is feeling. I personally have a whole lot more respect for "I don't like this song because I dislike jazz" instead of something completely rude and disrespectful. Because you can't ask a person "Well, why don't you like it?" if they reply with "it's crap." And I like to inquire I'm just a get to the bottom of things-kind of person. Exaggeration is fine, if you can back it up

Most of the time I have the reasoning to back it up. And I'm not here to parent the crybabies, lol. (even though I'm more of a crybaby whining about the stuff I dislike)

im so happy uninteresting pvs and package thats not fully flattering are only thing thats not perfect with PQ. PQ as an album, as music is so perfect. Its even better with each listen. I thought its powerful the first time I heard it, but now, when few days passed and I calmed down a bit I feel more and more power in each lyric she sings. I think its a strong release and people will listen to it in a long run.

I don't watch Ayu's PVs. They take away from the song most of the time, in my opinion (and rarely do justice to what her music is about - there's always a disconnect). I was talking about the song itself, in particular the way she sings it. All the above songs are not about menacing sexuality, or even embody that.

Admittedly, the jazzy songs could have been better, but it-s a start

I wouldn-t have expected a "Shiroi Inu to Odoru Yoru" by KOKIA... (a real deli) not to mention Shiina Ringo.

As i-ve wrote in the other thread about Timmy, i really like this album and it beats NEXT LEVEL, RnRC and certainly Love songs...

This. +I don't think this kind of music is suitable for her voice. I like the next LOVE but it's clear that this is not her strongest genre.

I don't know what it is with this album, the only song I dislike is how beautiful you are, but I don't think it's anywhere near being her best. I just think all the songs are... average I guess, that they're nice when I listen to them, but afterwards I don't remember them or particularly want to listen to them.

I quite like the first lot of songs still, but in a guilty pleasure sort of way, Party queen sounds really dated, and NaNaNa and Shake It♥ sound like imitations, rather than something fresh. I like them, because I like trashy party songs, but I'd rather listen to x or y mainstream Western artist do it, because they simply do it better for me. Sparkle still managed to sound fierce and fresh, despite it being nothing like her usual Jpop.

Call, Letter and reminds me I still like too, but again, Ayu has loads of pop-rock midtempo songs from me to choose from, and these are far from my favourite. Heartplace, Memorial address, most of Duty all surpass them. Tell me why I'm not really keen on, sounds like a reject from GUILTY which I overall disliked the sound of, I like the pop-orientated version more. Same with Return Road, I'd rather listen to kiss o'kill, I like RR more than Microphone though, I think.

the next Love and Eyes, Smoke, Magic are wonderful, I'm really happy she tried something so totally different. I really quite like the next Love, it's very sexy. Eyes, Smoke, Magic is just a novelty track, I don't know when I'll ever actually listen to it! It's so fun though.

^ You just voiced pretty much my exact thoughts on the album, except tell me why sounds like a messy HANABI reject and I like Microphone more than RR.

I like listening to the songs when I'm listening to them, but there's nothing that's really memorable or stands out in her discography.
