Namie only collabs with highly popular singers as in what sense of popular? Hahha surely not based on sales lol AI, Anna Tsuchiya, DOUBLE etc, only to mention a few of "her songs" not "songs feat. Namie" (which is probably the most dumb argument I've read concerning this topic, as if Namie was forced to do the collab - hence she only works with highly popular acts).

BLACK DIAMOND ftw.

But, personally, I'd rather have a solo album (?) than a collaborations one ;P

I agree, you don't need to get together with huge artists, but that's what she does.

She herself said she only chose AFTERSCHOOL to collab because of UEE's popularity in Japan.

As for Crystal Kay, the song is hers not Namie's, that makes a difference.

But oh, well, let's agree to dissagree.
The only big artist she's collaborated with is YamaPi; everyone else barely even registers as relevant in Japan. Even Hirai Ken has long since passed into has-been status.

I think UNUSUAL is sort of an awkward song but I still love it and it is still my favorite from checkmate. I love that Yamapi was featured so I am biased.

Yeah. It's the lyrics. I thought it was a cheesy song but still catchy and fun to listen to. Plus the video with Namie and Yamapi is very flashy and colorful. Where is Namie's big blu-ray PV collection?

Actually I disagree with the last sentence on Hirai Ken . He's still relatively popular after 22 years and counting

Alongside with Shimizu Shota , they separately still can hold Arena tours and sell out the concert dates

Yamapi's popularity has gone downhill considerably over the years & he has been even less musically active than before after he switch to Warner (not counting Kame to Yama-P's Senakagoshi no Chance)

I'm still annoyed on the way Warner markets Yamapi & it's sad cos in the midst of things as Yamapi released some of his best solo works during this time

Biased much? In that case Yamapi is also a has-been, his popularity is nothing like it used to be...

AI is highly popular her album THE BEST AI was released 2 years ago and it has charted on Oricon Top 300 every week for the whole 2017 year. The album has sold over 190,000 copies moreover she performs in year-end shows and promotes her music on Music Station and Music Station Super Live.

Also Anna Tsuchiya is a widely recognized face in Japan, though not as a music artist you can't deny she's popular, she is always invited to Japan's most popular fashion shows as a model (Just attended to TGC this week and also performed her songs live).

I think avex can easily pull off another collab album after her retirement and I guess they will eventually. They can include all collaborations released after Checkmate:
1. Revolution feat. Crystal Kay
2. I am Not Yours feat. Jolin Tsai
3. Genkai Lovers feat. Show-Ya
4. Grotesque feat. Ken Hirai
5. Waterfalls feat. TLC
(Am I forgetting some songs?)
+ they can add all collab songs from studio albums not released on Checkmate:
6. What I Did For Love feat. David Guetta
7. Ups & Downs feat. Naoymt
8. You are the One feat. TK
9. Lovin it feat. VERBAL
10. First Timer feat. DOBERMAN INC
11. Indy Lady feat. ZEEBRA
12. Fish feat. VERBAL
(maybe they can add hits from SUITE CHIC: Uh Uh feat. AI & Good life feat. Firstklas)

... and voilà there is an another money-grabbing collaboration album entitled Checkmate 2!

^as I said: it depends on who has control over her music. If she does not want anything to be released, nothing will...

After that song info about Koda Kumi registering a song with a similar name to one of Namie's that also had the same credits on it (sorry I forget which it was), it makes me think that what COULD be possible would be:
1 - A cover/tribute album, with slightly different takes on the song
2 - A checkmate 2.0 that is not original songs, but is more like a remix album to include an additional person/people (Mariah Carey had a concept similar to this that got scrapped called Angel's Advocate that was a companion to Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, and then some of the songs were released later as bonus tracks) -- that is essentially a duets album where they use the original Namie recordings, and then just add in another person.

That could be a way to incorporate the results of that poll from a while back, without Namie actually having to do anything new, or promoting it.

^ It was Black Make Up

A tribute album would be nice, but Black Make Up seems like such an odd pick, it's a b-side with no PV lol
The idea of a remix/duet album sounds cool.

^ I wonder if OT stands for "Original Track"?

Anyway, here is an example from the Mariah album I mentioned --
