but firstly, i need to say another reason why im irritated. its that because, I already begun listening to k-pop BEFORE all the Hallyu madness. I tried to recommend my friends songs from J-pop. it failed. then when I felt that K-pop is on the rise, and i started recommending, it also failed. And then after everything, now THEY are the ones getting interested and wanting to know a little more here and there. It's just so =.=...like..just because it helps you to be able to bridge a convo with other people, so you listen to k-pop..omgawd. (and yea..LOL @ the H&M thing..same went for UNIQLO) |

I'll be honest. My first Kpop was TVXQ, but heard them by Tohoshinki. They got me into K-pop so started listening to others like SHINee and 2PM. However, when I got to know some of the fans... I got instantly annoyed and lost interests. :/ I still listen to them, but I don't go crazy like a lot of fans do... It's best to just avoid it and enjoy what you love.
I don't listen to a lot Jpop and same with Kpop now. I listen to underrated artists/bands/indies/R&B and those are my likes. I even met people here with the same interests and became friends. I'm sick of the Jpop vs. Kpop thing too. So just enjoy what you love and avoid the trend. It works for me.

not only happen in Singapore...my country, Brunei, also got infected with the K-Wave...although here in Brunei, they only know Jpop songs from jdorama and anime, they still don't know who's AYUMI HAMASAKI. ...Hahaha...only certain people knew her...
In Brunei, people knows UTADA HIKARU....but only her "FIRST LOVE" era...that's it...oh! yeah...and Kiroro too...but only their "Mi'rae" song...and they don't even know that the group is duo...they thought Kiroro is a solo artist!!!! Since K-WAVE hit Brunei, people knows SNSD, BIGBANG, 2NE1 and others....but what they didn't know that these Korean artists also release their songs into Japanese~~GOSH!!! It's very hard for me to explain to them about this!! Some of my friends often says "Ayumi Sucks" and other stuffs mean...but I don't care because I know Ayumi Hamasaki ...She released alot of great music. she's my idol

I'm not in Singaporean but this happens in the Philippines too. Everything about K-pop is everywhere here. Super Junior, Girls Generation, F(x), Wonder Girls, 2NE1 (Sandara Park made her career here before she became a member of 2NE1 so that's a plus), etc. are few artists to conquer the mainstream scene in the Philippine Airwaves and even in television. There's no denying that. I used to be in love with K-pop but that was before, before it became mainstream. But when Hallyu wave hit my country, as most of the people were talking about K-pop stars and gone crazy about them, I lost half of my interest in it. I still listen to K-pop but not with the same passion just like before. After all, J-pop is my first love and will always be my number one. But the K-pop dominance here in the Philippines makes J-pop outdated and underrated. Anyway, I don't get the idea that J-pop is taken away by K-pop. Honestly speaking, most of Korean artists are talented, not just with the nose-with-clothspin voice like Ayu, but they really can sing. Their dance are also appealing. Their looks are trendy. They have their own identity - image-wise. But I think J-pop is more creative in different aspects especially the music-wise part. Well, it's my opinion but that's how I see it. I just hate it when fan pages about K-pop (Philippine fan-based) despise J-pop. Very disrespecting! Fans are fans! Sorry for the long post. ^_^

This kinda remind me of michael jackson, my friends hated him when he's alive, says he's gay etccc... After he passed on, his works began to be on the rise, and all can see how talented he was.... THEN AGAIN, They all began Liking MJ, because it was a "TREND"... It will be really sad, if Jpop craze is back in sg, and everyone likes ayu just because it a "trend"... I guess it will anger lots of true ayu fans like us.. haha And freedreamer, not just H&M or Uniqlo.... The Koi trend too... And doughnut factory years ago .. LOL LOL! I guess we can think of more examples.. haha

^haha YES!!
honestly i knew how amazing MJ WAS before all the fiasco that surrounded him. but i never really was into watching his material..and even now. It's jsut that in this case, you only start to treasure the things that are Lost forever. but that aside..Yes, if EVER the j-pop craze returns (i doubt though :/) and...people behave like what you said..i'd be so pissed.. right now, i dunno who i should ask to go watch ayu on the 30th with me =.= |

It's just "feel good"-music - nothing deep or meaningful! And also when I read comments of KPop-fans, the first thing most of them would comment on are the outfits/make-up/hairstyle of their favourites and not their singing! ![]() I personally don't have any problems with KPop, I'm just not interested in it, because it seems "fake" to me (the music and the idols!). I also don't understand why KPop is so popular in Japan right now, because most Japanese songs are only remakes of Korean songs. They just translate Korean songs into Japanese, throw in a new PV and that's it! ![]() At least groups like Tohoshinki, Kara and Girls' Generation had and have the decency to produce "Japanese only"-songs. That's the reason why they will stay the only relevant KPop-groups in Japan - in my eyes (even when I'm only listening to Tohoshinki).

my friends say Ayu sings horribly live, and I watched a live of Why... and they cringed. LOL. I don't disagree with them though, she's really bad live sometimes.
about the K-Pop thing... meh. It's a fad, most people will just die off from their fandom in a few years'... it's inevitable.

Most people are first hooked with K-pop because of their looks and not on how they sing because based on my personal experiences, my co-workers (including myself) just drool over Super Junior just because they look so handsome and gorgeous! Well, I know this also happens in J-pop. I'm not saying that these K-pop artists have bad songs, it just that the songs are too generic and some time too similar to each other that I thought it's from the same artist. LOL. I also agree with you. ^_^

Yes, about the lip synching part.... I really can't stand singers who lip-synch... If you are only selling for your hot looks, why do you even call yourself a singer??
And my friends were so superficial that they told me ALL SNSD members are prettier that ayu... Hello??!! Ayu is 33 years old now and most SNSD members are only 20-23 years old!! How to compare.. Well, no offence to k lovers, but ayu was beautiful when she's 20-23 years old too, or even more beautiful than some snsd members now. Ayu younger days (below age 24 i guess) http://images.ados.fr/bd-manga/photo...-935857ed0.jpg http://www.japoneitor.com/wp-content...i-hamasaki.jpg http://www.kantu5.com/article/Upload...9213455920.jpg SNSD members now(individually) http://www.hancinema.net/photos/photo52803.jpg http://asianfanatics.net/gallery/arc...86434c693c.jpg http://www.girlsgen.com/gallery/plog...ffany-0148.jpg http://images2.fanpop.com/image/phot...33-479-720.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2J2Algj5yV...hyun+SNSD4.jpg http://www.showwallpaper.com/wallpaper/0904/028647.jpg No offence, this is just my personal opinion. Let's minus the plastic surgery part, cos i believe ALL celebrities will at least do some correction to their appearance, even ayu... Last edited by ayu_fantasy; 22nd September 2011 at 08:52 PM. |
