I'm chinese and I must say, I'm not into any recent chinese artists.
I sometime listen to Twins and S.H.E though. Nothing impressive. I think Vicky Zhao Wei is pretty awesome. I like Wong Faye's older songs...

Chinese pop music is very.. eh.
To me, it all blends kinda together.. The ballads sound the same, pop songs are all.. similar-ish. When they try being all jpoppy it's evident.. Eh. LOL. I listened to a bit of 183 Club.. their songs are so WEIRD.

^agreed. Vicki singing is so-so....she's a better actoress.
asongforxx, you should try JJ Lin Jun jJe. the music he wrote are not alike those c-pop, they are more unique and special. i'm loading 曹操 now. try this song!!! EDIT:download曹操 183club weird? to me, their songs are just like other c-pop, just popish, i don't see myself hearing them 10 years from now...i only find it a waste for Jacky to be in the club, he CAN sing! he will be bettter off cutting his solo album then sticking around with the group.

I don't understand why 183 Club is so popular. Imo, they arn't good looking and even F4 (which I don't like much) has better songs than them.

^because of the taiwan dramas. but i dissgree that f4 songs are better then 183. both groups songs are so-so. while, F4(except Vanesse)will sing VERY out of tune live, while 183 is better in live.
and a additional reason why 183 was popular the moment they started out, there is a member Sam who is in another very popular group,5566. sam is currenly still in both groups. while another member, Johnny Yan had been starring in 2 VERY popular dramas, My MVP Valentine(with 5566, this is THE drama that got 5566 into attention) and Snow Angel(with Toro, ex-member of Energy). why i am so familar? coz i like 5566! ha, i like how they work as a team, and how they don't care about their image. they can be very crazy during their shows. but i'm not that much of a fan... while my sister is a die-hard Energy fan....

Lacus, i gotta say JJ's first album is way much nicer than the new 2 albums
 I've downloaded the few songs in your quite-old-download thread. The new album doesn't attract me that much. In fact, the first 2 albums are pretty good, much better than the new one. *IMO*

Vicky Zhao Wei is an awesome actress, but she can also sing. I haven't heard any of her albums though... My mom has the soundtrack of one of her drama and almost all of the songs are sung by her! Of course, it's not, how can I say... "popular" music. More traditional and classic chinese. It's not pop. I like that kind of chinese songs.  I don't think chinese artists are trying to be "j-pop". I don't get what you mean by that, Anthony. But the recent and new artists are so boring... I agree though. The ballads and pop songs kinda sound alike.
