might be true but i highly doubt they would put something so private in such an exposed area, why not put it on the back where it is covered up more easily? it doesn't really make sense to me to put it there considering a lot of her wardrobe will expose that area.

The same as some artists hide their tattooos with make up, some artists wear fake tatooos in order to interpret a certain character in movies. Since the filming take actually days, they obviously remove the fake tattoo and put it back again at the exact same place once the recordings take place again. We all know ayu often go by "themes", so I can't help but to think this tatttooo could be fake and just another one of these temporary themes/personas she created. It's possible to use the same pattern of a fake tattto at the same place several times. I'm not saying, or proving she doesn't have a tattto, but just mentioning once again, there's no solid prove her tattoo is real.

gosh I can't believe we are still on the tatoo issue... I'll bet Ayu is laughing now XD Perhaps she enjoys seeing us wrack our brains! Or maybe it scares her that people sit around and go frame by frame to find her 'hidden but possibly a fake' tattoo XD

Actually, he does. Initial scans of the tattoos looked as though Tomoya got his on his right bicep/shoulder, curling in under his arm -- which would, in retrospect, be a very strange place to have a tattoo; instead, it appears the tattoo begins on his chest, just before where the curve of a sleeveless shirt would fall, and curls in across his right pectoral.

Assuming they got the tattoos in 2004, since then Tomoya has done the following acting gigs: Tiger & Dragon, Hakusen Nagashi, Kanojo no Shinjyatta, My Boss My Hero, Maru, and Mayonaka no Yajisan Kitasan. You get a chance to see his chest, where the supposed tattoo would be, in T&D, MBMH, and Mayonaka no Yajisan Kitassan. I haven't seen Hakusen Nagashi or Kanojo no Shinjyatta, so I can't speak for those two -- but in the others, he has no tattoo when his chest is revealed.

Of course, we could speculate and say it was covered up with makeup. Then there's also the tattoo that he sported in MBMH -- I'll have to actually take a closer look at it, though if he does have it, it's probably disguised as part of the irezumi tattoo that they airbrushed on him for Episode 11.

He also did an underwear campaign in a magazine sometime in 2005 during the T&D era -- interestingly enough, they put a huge jacket/coat over him as well, which would've strategically covered up the tattoo for the most part, leaving his abs free.

Can't believe I missed this thread earlier... haha. There was never any solid proof for the tattoo, and I don't care whether it's real or not, but it's cool to discuss it.

The main point that made me start thinking the rumor from 2004 might have had some truth in it was when Ryan-Chan, co-worker of Leslie Kee (A famous photographer often behind many of Ayumi's photos and covers), stated in the end of 2006 that yes, she does have a tattoo. Information that was revoked quite immediately because of "higher powers". I've been talking to him privately since then, and that has quite strengthened my belief that Ayumi might have one.

Then there's the fact that she does have reasons to hide it, different culture and all, but also she might feel it's something private and considering what diva she is I don't doubt she'd be able to keep it hidden if that's what she wishes. But yeah, it also seems boogus that she'd keep on hiding it forever and ever. Maybe we'll see in the future.

I think I made it clear back in my thread that there's actually no solid proof behind the tattoo rumor.

^Regardless of whether or not there's solid proof, there's enough evidence that also does seem to correlate with the tattoo theory, including Ryan Chan's comments. IMHO, the tattoo's real. :>

Okay, here's my theory:

As said before, the tattoo is something between Ayu and Tomoya since they are very close. At least it's something sweet and nothing inappropriate.

Anyway, she must cover it up because of what others have said before, that tattoos aren't completely ... accepted? ... so I think she covers it so not-so-extreme fans label her incorrectly (not that they should label her at all! ).

I'm assuming she left it visible in the 1 LOVE PV because, well, I mean look at the theme and the mood of the PV! It's very dark; Ayu is a "musician" being auctioned off to customers. Not that the pole dancing is entirely the point of the PV, but that and the tattoo are sort of "dark symbols" no? (Okay, maybe not all tattoos are, but we've mentioned that in Japan they aren't widely accepted.
