I'm another UK fan and have been for years. It seriously sucked for me at first in school because people found it weird that i was listening to A: Pop music and B: JAPANESE Pop music
![]() Now however, i don't try and hide it in the slightest, why should I? It doesn't make me feel effeminate in any way at all but then my musical taste is pretty diverse altogether so it would be impossible for me to feel different for everything i listen to xD My best friends listen to metal, and have no problem with it at all. Now... trying to explain my love of Morning Musume is a different kettle of fish ![]() |

I admit. I have a feminine side to me and I like it. But if your embarrassed to admit you have something that is sad. I am bisexual and proud. Thanks to my best friend I can open up

I'm not saying its a bad thing but wow, there are a lot of gay guys here. Am I the only straight one (joke)?
I don't think its "sad" that a guy feels self conscience about liking something that mostly girls like.

Well, I'm straight, and I must admit that a few songs of ayu are too cute and girlish (EnergizE for example) and I sometimes find me strange listening to this, because all music I listening is rock (gothic rock, alternative rock, j-rock... etc) and I can be listening a heavy metal song and the next song is ANGEL'S SONG, and it is so.... shocking? yeah. In terms of pop, I believe that I only listen to Ayumi and Hikki.
But I don't find it bad or so, I don't close my mind in one way of listening to music, and the same for my way to live. If it's good, it doesn't mind the style. Don't you think that?

this thread is made of major lulz.
everyone should simply listen to the stuff that makes her/him happy or whatever else you expect music to do for you. stereotypes are the death of diversity. |

well im a girl but i wouldn't think wrongly of a male to listen to ayu
(gay or straight doesn't matter) its a free world (well sort of) you can listen to all you want is like guys listening to britney spears im ok with it ~no im not comparing ayu to britney~ |

![]() Anyway...I don't think it's necessarily "sad" guys feel a certain way listening to "girly" music... but sometimes we also have to remember that people look for different things in their music. A lot of guys at my school loved koda just because she was hot. And I know people who think that way of Ayu too lol So...you never know. You like what you like...sometimes it's harder to like things that are against the norm...but if you always just reject yourself and go with the flow...then who are you...you're just a nobody, and you're worse because then you give up your individuality, and what makes you special. That's what's really sad, and I think that's more what fantasma meant.

hmm, kind of? like when i listen to her rock music like Because of You, Mirrorcle World, GAME, etc, that thought doesn't even enter my mind. but when listening to something like Beautiful Fighters, HONEY, even songs like fairyland and BLUE BIRD, it's like... guys wouldn't normally listen to that. and then when i watch her performances like Depend on You and Fly high at AT08 it's like guys REALLY wouldn't watch something like this... but i still love it!
same with ballads... the guys i know really don't listen to ballads. it's mostly songs about booty and poles etc. but i love ballads!

Ballads are my favorites all the time anyway. Even when it comes to rock bands like X Japan, their ballads just blow me away ^^. I really don't care if people think it makes me seem girly lol

I said it is SAD when ppl are embarrassed. Not that they are embarrassed of something sad. In which case I would be contradicting myself.

and ballads usually are my favourite songs of artists, exception would be Nana Mizuki because I prefer her upbeat songs, but from almost every other artist i like ballads the most. |

Nope not at all. If someone asks what I'm listening to, I'll let them listen to it. Should they think it's "weird" then whatever. That's their problem not mines. I mean... out of everything that person could be concerned of... the one thing that's on his/her mind is....the type of music I listen to. In my experience though, I've never had a problem with others knowing about my music taste.

I think it's natural for people to feel something when they do things that are different from others, whether they feel weird or proud, whatever. I mean, I think a lot of us have felt odd sometimes when most of us listen to Japanese music, and everyone kinda just gives you a look like "what." lol I imagine it might be the same for guys sometimes. I don't think it makes them feel effeminate though lol
