Come on... you're acting like all the other artists on this list did NOT achieve something. But they sure did! All of them are/were very influential and important artists! AYU BEING ONE OF THEM! I think one shouldn't bother about the exact placement so much, the fact that Ayu is ranked at all is worth an applause already! [like jose said!]

Remember that this is just one site ... if another site listed Ayu as dead last, would it matter to you? Her ranking in this list shouldn't matter much, as she did get ranked amonst some of the most well-known artists ever! It's great she's #42, and of course it'd be greater if she was higher, but once again, things like CD sales weren't the only factor in deciding this list.

Sorry I wrote that down wrong. You said 'Did Ayu not achieve something the other singers did?' Sorry again. To answer your question:

No. They all achieved great things.

Aha, well ok, can't say that it's a wrong choice.

But eh, was Ryuichi Sakamoto listed at all?

Oh, I see, # 11. Good ^_^

I kinda miss Merzbow [Masami Akita] on this... not a big commercial succes, but an influential artist nevertheless... with a lengthy discography [and this one's not even complete!]

Wow, my sn is so much like Linzy's o_O That's a big coincidence.

42 is good out of the best 100 jpop artists of all time. Yeah, if it was a ranking of the best 100 jpop artists only in the 90's and now or something, 42 would be an unreasonable positioning for Ayu.

I definately think that 42 is great... I just don't rally agree with Hikki being ranked 24. I think she's a great artist, I just don't know if I would consider her THAT influencial

This ranking is made by the impact for not Japanese people but Japanese music.
It may become subjective by HMV.@

For example ,the sells of 15. Flippers Guitar is small.
But ,their creative power got high evaluation.

No suprise. SAS is #1 - they are the most influential group in jpop and are good. I'm suprised that Ayu got as high as #42. Very suprised. I believe there are a lot of artists behind her that could be switched. DCT as low as they were, they should have been top 20 easily. TK at 21 - Bah! He sucks - all his songs are same and he is a crappy music svengali. Still can't believe Zeebra made this list :shudder: Nanase Aikawa should have been on some part of it but I have no complaints to the top 10, they do make sense.

Congrats ayu!

#42 is not bad at all... it really proves that ayu has influence on J-pop.

Surprise surprise, I'm quoting you again. The list is not about any one person's opinion, and certainly not yours. TK is a very influential producer who had great influence in the dance scene of the 90's. And you're not happy that Ayu's ranked as high as 42? Well I'm not even gonna argue about that...I bet you would've said 100 would've been too high for Ayu, had she made that rank.
