Anyways, I'd say Ayu does better... Because I can't stand the sound of Utada's voice, she always sounds like she's straining so hard and cannot hit "high" notes and her voice sounds gross to me. Sorrynooffense...

Of course, Ayu can't sing live anymore either, but when she actually could sing... Well, to me, it sounded 500000x better than Utada ever has. I just never liked her voice.

In my opinion, both artists struggle to "hit" the higher notes of a soprano. You have to take the perspective of both artists voices (their strengths and weaknesses) and judge their voices that way.

Yeah, that's true. But I just hate the way Utada's voice sounds when she does it, while Ayu's voice almost always appeals to me for some reason...

I mean, Ayu obviously isn't the greatest singer in the world, but her voice just makes my ears happy.

I used to think Utada, for sure, but lately her vocals have seemed a lot whinier than Ayu's. Used to be the other way around for me, so a few years ago, I would have voted differently.

I think Ayu's voice is getting better all the time while Utada's is just getting weaker (i would've voted different before TITO..)
