If shes taking them regularly she should really have a break, her vocals are really bad for having lessons for such a long time, even though shes deaf on one ear, she had 8 years to get used to her ear after all.(i mean, its not like she suddenly was deaf around cdl 07/08, it began slowly in 2000 or 2001 and slowly became worse) |

I use to think ayu deserved a long rest . . .
but personally feel that Ayu is where she truly wants to be. If she's "not" performing and singing then she's not living. So as long as Ayu's happy then I'm happy where she is. IF she was constantly fainting on tour or always in the hospital then I'd say Yeah She needs a break now. I love Ayu as much as when I first started listening to her. I don't think her music is declining in quality, I loved her last 3 albums GUILTY being my favorite of the three. Sure there will be some songs that I'll enjoy more than others but I don't consider her older stuff pure gold compared to what she now releases. There's even some songs that I like more than some of her older stuff. To each is own. A break will not improve her music. Unless she actually states that herself that she is taking a break to improve her music. And sales have nothing really to do with it, if everyone who downloads actually bought her album then NEXT LEVEL would of sold more even if some people only liked 3 songs from the whole album Back before there were mp3 and everything that's exactly what we use to do, You like a song you buy the album cuz you had no choice lol I have to agree with truehappiness about their comment Quote:

I wonder if the problem is not that she's overworked but underworked. I know her job is stressful enough as it is, but it seems to me that she turned out her best material when she did everything herself--lyrics, composition, art direction, etc. I remember reading somewhere that she was listed as the producer of some record (I think it was Duty or Surreal or thereabouts), and Max Matsuura commented that there was no mistake in the credits--Ayu had her finger in so many pies that she was on the level of producer or something.
I know some people still expect Ayu to make lyrics like she did in her early years, but I think that this is unrealistic; if Ayu is as honest in writing her lyrics as she says she is, then there's really no reason why such a happy, successful person should write another ASF××. However, ever since she started delegating everything to her staff, her sonic and visual artistry has become a bit blander: her concert performances don't show any of that "inharmonious" or "conflicting" beauty or arcane symbolism of her earliest tours. Her rock songs are beginning to get repetitive. And so on. So maybe it's time for Ayu to get off her butt and take the reins from people like ... He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. |

I don't understand why people don't like Rule. In my opinion, it's amazing. But apparently that's just me. lol.
Anyway, I'm worried that if Ayu takes a break, the public will forget about her, especially with the way Japanese artists debut and go away as quickly as they do. Of course for us fans it would be impossible to forget her, but for the casual listener it's easy to pick up another album and start listening to someone else. Maybe Ayu and Avex are afraid of that happening too. I think if anything has happened to the quality of her albums, it's gotten better. I think Secret and NEXT LEVEL are so great because I can listen to every song. Some of her songs on early albums are just about un-listenable. I just think people's tastes change, and it seems like Ayu's tastes have changed and have taken a different direction. Maybe the public will catch on after another album, maybe not. |

Ayu needed vocal lessons because she totally lost the use of one of her ears..

No.
Overworking is the way that she works. If she was going to break down from stress, she would've done so already. I think she will stress herself to death, if she was on a long vacation, just dying to get some work done.

@emiko: Fantastic last post there... I suppose I was talking too much about lyrics and forgot about the music itself.
Which I'll have to agree, completely, with you. There is something really flat about here more recent albums... sometimes it makes me feel as if Ayu isn't like how she was... maybe for NEXT LEVEL she isn't at the recording booth listening to every track and making sure they're the stuff she wants or something, or she got brainwashed by her trustworthy staff...

Or maybe she just wanted to go a little pop
![]() Really, I think it's pretty irritating when people starts searching for the responsables for "destroying ayu music", it's aways sounds like "awww! poor ayu! her staff is so evil!" >< |

^ yep, if her staff does something she doesnt want, she just says NO and they do something different, and if ayu does a different genre its not to be mainstream, shed go Hello! Project to be mainstream xD Its because she wants to do something different, it might boost sales when its more mainstream, but i seriously doubt that thats ayus main interest, she may choose the more mainstream songs for singles, but thats it
