^It can't be helped really. When you have an artist that's been around as long as Ayu and has released such a broad range of work, there's bound to be fans who prefer this era over another or like the new over the old or feel like her stuff isn't as good as it used to be and so forth. Not just for Ayu but it's common among fans of other big artists as well. It's not really a cycle but just something that's inevitable when you have a constantly changing image, you gain fans and lose some. Nothing out of the ordinary really.

Ballad i think has got to be one of my favorite Ayu pv's of all time the emotion and story was just amazing and ayu looked 100% stunning so no complaints there Sexy Little Things was a cool pv along with Microphone pv which i loved! i ADORE Green pv i think its so beautiful and Days pv is cute . Rule was my first ayu pv so i adore it and sparkle is interesting ;p overall i think her pv's have pretty much stayed great! i mean i love Endless Sorrow pv, but all it was, was a little boy climbing the eiffel tower. Moon pv was a cinematographically beautiful pv, while it didnt have much going on the beauty of the actual pv told a lot in my opinion. S/S were pretty much just fun pv's, so i dont believe that her quality of pv's has declined recently. dlma i thought was a very awsome pv, along with marionette and talkin 2 myself. And there are some of her older pv's which i think werent exactly master pieces, which i adore nonethless due to nostalgia and love for ayu like daybreak, and kanariya ;p
We also have 2 brand new pv's to look forward to in 2 weeks along with who knows how many from L 3 title songs, possibly 3 new pvs? that would be amazing!

I don't see a decline at all. Ayu has had good PVs and she's had horrible ones. In every era. I honestly don't care about PVs. As long as she gives me music I like I'm good

I don't think they are declining at all. You were...is a good example I think; a lot of people dislike it because they think it's boring/whatever but it is a visually stunning PV, packed with imagery and symbolism. And I think that's really the issue. Her PV's over the last couple of years have been more symbolic and abstract (aside from a few that have clear storylines). They don't clearly tell you what you're supposed to be feeling, and what you are seeing. You have to interpret it yourself.
MOON, to me, is like a painting. A painting that is dying. We get to see a picture in it's final moments. I can see how people think it is boring though, as not much happens.

As many people have said, she has fantasic and not so fantastic Pv's throughout her career. I don't think there is a particular era that outshines any other.

I think this is like where we're clouded by the past... or should I say, she still has reli good PVs now but because they're so little, it almost seems like the "past" is better since there're better PVs from then...

But to me, the fantastic PVs from her from GUILTY onwards are:
Together When...
Marionette
part of Me (lol is GUILTY onwards)
Days
Don't look back
Sexy little things
Lady Dynamite

Apparently, I don't have a lot LOL. Well, but the thing is, she has had good PVs in the present & the past; I think a lot of it has to do with personal preferences though; we like some, we dislike some. It's natural and totally understandable.

However, I've to say some of her older PVs like Greatful days, Boys & Girls, TO BE, LOVE ~Destiny~ etc are just snorefests

Like waterballoon said, some fans are clouded by the past. But to all of the people who feel her PVs have gone downhill. Old-works being pre-RAINBOW, are they REALLY all that great? Name one PV better than any of the stuff she's put out recently?

SURREAL, M, and WHATEVER. Love those PVs to death and I'd rank them above everything from RnRC and MOON except for DLB.

But yeah, those are like the only 3 exceptions in my book. Her pre-RAINBOW PVs as whole were pretty boring.

With the possible exception of MOON, I feel her PVs have actually increased a lot in quality. First of all, ayu doesn't have to be in it for it to be a great PV, secondly, there doesn't really have to be a lot happening either. I also feel that the PVs for S/S fit the songs, even though they are "cheap". I also think her PVs for her two latest albums are by far the best work yet. ^_^

All of those are a major snooze-fest for me, especially SURREAL! xD; And that's like.. one of my favorite songs. I can't really think of anything pre-RAINBOW that I like to be honest... MAYBE Fly High...

OMG, I totally agree with you about Ayu's videos. This has me worried. Even don't look back was pretty tacky, I thought so much more could have been done, especially since it as such a great arbian beat intro...

but moon was really high quality ( well the short ver. was a yawn) it still seems promissing. I thought talkin'2 myself was a good video but don't leave me alone was so bad and tacky it was tragic. And blossom made like no sense. NONE.

I haven't watched a PV since S/S... and I liked those. I don't think she has had a "bad" era of PVs. I mean... I like her ASFXX - LOVEppears videos a lot. They have that old nineties video feel, obviously. Anyhow, I like that. They weren't big productions, and no PV has to be. And now I'm rambling... lol

My least favorite videos (I still like them) are probably

YOU
TO BE
walking proud
NEXT LEVEL

So I think her PVs are fine. I may not like all her music recently, but her PVs have always been a strong point.

well... invest in a PV does not guarantee that it is good
Like fairiland imo is borring... she looks wonderful but RELI was so expensive for that ._.

Even so... I have the faith that is gonna be a HUGE PV~ <3
*fingers crossed *

yep, I have notice that too... but we can't say all her "new" PVs are not good she has good ones... *thinking*

I hope a new era of EPIC-AWSOME-OMG-DOUBLE RAINBOW (?) PVs come soon~ This is getting a little annoying ~O~

I've never been a fan of the vast majority of Ayumi PVs. They are far too weird.

I agree about fairyland's PV. I have no clue where all that money went, but the PV was a little on the boring side. Not as boring as sunrise or sunset, but it's definitely one of her PVs that I don't feel the urge to watch again.

I always thought of those as just plain, simple Jpop PVs that you see a lot with people who are starting out....though let me tell you, Ayu's "debut" PVs are a HELL OF A LOT BETTER than A LOT of other female solos' debuts...

And nothing is even happening in them...so meh. I never really gave those as much thought. I kind of regard them as I do the A song for xx album...but I actually really like seeing her in those, cause it's like...another era....another time.
