I mean its not a traditional japanese last name is it?

Some people say she's part German and that's where the name comes from, though that's still just a rumor. The kanji in her last name says "Ban" and that's what everyone calls her usually. But I've heard her refer to herself as "Van" so I'm not really sure. ...I'm not much help am I? =P

I suppose it could be a stage name though.

"Van" is pronounced as "Ban" in japan.

Just like they pronounce "VISEE" as "BISEE"

Tomiko's actual last name is Ban.

I don't think I've heard that surname "Ban" before...maybe she isn't full Japanese after all?

"Ban" IS a Japanese last name, it's just not that common, that's all, hehe.

But ya, "Van" is just a different way of writing "Ban". I have no idea why she chooses to write it like that though.

^ Ah, thanks for clearing that up I've learned something new today....

She probably uses "Van" instead of "Ban" to seem more cutesy/Western? o_o I know some other J-stars like to make their names more "Western" by replacing the 'k' with the 'c' and adding in the 'l' to replace the 'r'..and so on o_o

Ya that's what I've always thought too, hehe. "Van" DOES look better than "Ban" though...especially when "ban" has such a negative connotation in English as a verb...but "van" is also a funny word...
Okay going totally off-topic here. xP

I don't know why but sometimes her nose can really irritate me, but sometimes it makes her look really cute, I really love her in the Shinjitsu No Uta pv b/c when she's in the cave she looks so sexy when she's dirty.

Kakeru uploaded the album in the downloads section. ^_^
Well what do you guys think of her album?
I love all the songs except Morning Glory, And Before sunset is alright... >.< lol Her songs are very mixed with all sorts of styles in my opinion. ^_^
Did anyone notice that "complacence" sounds familiar... I think it's sounds like the song Be Free, but I am not sure. >.< Did anyone else notice?

I like "morning glory"... One of my top 3 tracks along w/ "complacence" & "horoscope".
I think "complacence" actually sounds familiar 'cause it's the closest to DAI's sound. On one hand I wish she had made more tracks like that but at the same time I'm glad she made songs that are her style.
I think "Nue no naku yoru"'s riff sounds A LOT like something you'd hear from DAI though. My first reaction was "a DAI song?? O_o"

But ya, like Amy said, the songs are of various styles, even though most do tend to be on the slow side...but I'd say she did pretty good.

Nah..."Week!" is so much better. One of my favourite DAI songs, hehe.

Haha but ya I can see where you'd get that. The first lines of the choruses are identical...probably why I like the song.

Right now, "horoscope". But I wish the song could just be a tad bit faster... "complacence" would be my 2nd, for now.

Strangely I like her better as a solo artiste

I don't really find the album full of filler, I think each song is nice...
