I prefer her live singing.
I noticed that in some songs her voice is very "Cute". But if she performs this songs live her voice is deeper. It's great. And live her voice sounds more emotional^^ The Songs I love most to hear live are these: Poker Face~A Museum (Actually all "Old" songs she performed live in the last years^^) Happy Ending~AT 2005 I am~AT 2002 Bold and Delicious ^^

Interesting topic...I really enjoy her CDs much more than most of her live songs...sometimes it seems that she doesn't properly prepare for them. (Although she has improved a lot recently, in my opinion.) However, some songs I absolutely LOVE listening to Live, such as HANABI as sung in a-nation 2005...that was beautiful.
 But OVERALL, I like her CD performed ones. In the lives, though, her emotion seems to really come through, which is something I like.

With Ayu's live voice, it's more apparent when it comes to her emotions, so i pic live. I just wish she'd stop shortening up the live perfomances soemtimes...her recorded voice sounds really nice to, but i'm just a bigger fan of live performances since you can hear the voice and the things they might've edited when they recorded.

I love them both.. I dunno why people are saying her TV lives suck.. I love her TV lives.. I've never really heard one I dislike .. I even like the Bold & Delicious lives.. well okay.. the singing.. but ugh in some of them she wore really ugly dresses and stood really annoyingly..
yep.. that was randomly weird..

Oh, good thread :] I enjoy listening to Ayu recorded songs. They are good for a long evening with an interesting book. In contrast, I like watching her lives. It's pretty touching, the way she put her emotions into singing *-*

Recorded vs. Live
(Whoops~)
For me, there are some songs that I love ONLY when they're performed live, such as Boys & Girls. I get chills every time I hear that from Arena Tour 2005. ^_^ However, I hate it when Bold & Delicious is performed live. Although it is great to see her having fun on stage, I prefer her vocals in the CD track. It's hard of me to say I hate it because CD tracks are tweaked so much, so please don't hate me and go bashing me when I say this.  Also, I just heard A Song is born from Stadium Tour 2002. I cannot stand that song. I just watched it on YouTube? Wow. That was amazing. (Used spoiler tags to save room.) Preferred live: Spoiler:

I prefer all her songs live. But this may change when I watch AT06. The only song where I might prefer the studio vers is HEAVEN... I'm really not digging the acoustic versions..... make it sound even more dry..... The Music Station acoustic performance for HEAVEN was really bad in my opinion....
Bold & Delicious is one of the best songs live!!!! So much energy and power! I love it! Also, I can't listen to MY STORY the album at all, but pop in AT05 and I'm hooked.

Some songs are better live, but some, like GAME or About You, are really bad live.

I actually thought she performs her songs pretty well when it comes to Arena Tours. Maybe it's the energy behind the crowd and stuff that helps her along. On the other hand, her voice isn't all that great when it comes to TV appearances. It sounds like she's really struggling with certain songs, especially slower ballads.
Maybe she's just someone who's meant more to perform on the big stages.

I can't say i've heard all her songs live but from what i have seen, in general i prefer recorded versions better because its what i'm used to. When i listen to a live performance i try to see how close it sounds to the recorded version. Altho i must admit most the Arena Tour performances are really impressive.
