Well let us review:

Ayu in 1995. She released a single / modeling stuff. :B Was technically a nobody, since the single debuted at #200 on Oricon.
1997-1998[?]: Picked up by avex; released single, slowly got more popular from there
1999 and onward: Fame.

In many years time when people look back at there music history they will all think Ayu instead of Ai and Kuu. Kind of like how everyone remembers Michael Jackson and Elvis but hardly anyone thinks of Prince or Roy Orbison.

It would be great if Ayu could be the No.1 till she decide to retire. But it looks like not that possible cuz Koda & Ai are coming very strong behind her and I'm sure someday, one of them will take Ayu's queen trone soon or later. But if that time comes, I really prefer that it could be Ai ^^ Is not like that I don't like Kuu... but I think Ai is more talented than Kuu. What she really use is her body, while Ai, not using her BODY can still be as popular as Kuu is. Personally I like more TALENTED artists. There's nothing wrong with beging CUTE or SEXY.
& Ai and Kuu's rivality is just the same one as Namie & Ayu. Let's see who wins and can be the next Ayu & Namie ^^.

And about Ayumi, the Korean one. I think she's already very sexy and cute. And I liked her singles soo far. But to be able to be sexy, I think she needs better legs. I don't like her legs cuz they're not good enough. Haha... that's just my opinion ^^

I don't even think Kuu and Ai have a rivalry at all. Namie and Ayu's rivalry isn't really "real" imo, compared to Ayu's and Hikki's.

Also, it's a fact that Kuu's 2006 "non-sexy" songs do better than her "sexy" songs. And Kuu isn't as popular as Ai, she's more popular than Ai.

I agree ^^ Kumi not sexy songs sell better than her sexy songs and I think she will be the next queen...lets see...Namie wasnt popular at all with supermonkeys but then she started to become popular and boom...then ayumi wasnt popular too but boom...Koda Kumi has harder time 'cause not popular for much time and then boom...

LoL there are to many obsessed people here, just because Kumi is sexy doesnt mean she doesnt sing well, at least she always knew how to sing, Ayu was so bad in the begin.
And Ayu can remain no.1 forever in your heart but she cant remain in Japan, she isnt the first and the last queen of jpop of Japan, like her there have been many others who did more than what she did, and the more years pass and the more things will be done from new queens.

Basiclly no one would be No.1 singer forever. but Ayu is still the one of the top singer in Japan over 8 years.

I was mostly talking about sales and the success of the Ayu brand... Just because a song goes to number 1 dosent mean it can out sell a song that peaks elsewhere on the top 10. Anyways Ayu still has the most number 1's which is still better than consecutive 1's.

Didnt ayu passed them already? anyways, nobody is gonna replace who...they are all different. Nobody can be on top forever. Queen of Jpop doesnt really mean much to me. Its the music that matters. Ayu had so many great songs during her peak and now she have her awesome concerts as well. She sold alot of copies of those songs not only because she was popular at that time but they were quality songs with great lyrics too. She will be remembered for those...music and lyrics, etc. I just watched my dome tour dvd the other day and it is still awesome after so many years.

I was singing along to a song for xx, seasons, endless sorrow, etc. Lets just say I will never get embrassed showing ppl her concerts and music. (well maybe b&d)

I dont give a crap if her sales are dropping...yes they are dropping alot compared to her previous albums but they are still great for someone who has been in the industry for 8 years. Kumi and Ai can take the throne if they like, I dont mind. If kumi takes the throne, she should atleast produce better songs not like the ones she released this year. It will shut ppl up if she does. I really want to see how much she would sell without all those bonus stuff. It would be sad for her if ppl only remember her as her image, the 2 best albums, and the 12 single project and a couple of songs....(real emotions, cutie honey, butterfly, etc) Those are just my opinions btw. As for Ai, I like some of her songs and the fact that she write and compose her own songs makes me notice her more. I do feel she is quite limited though like her image and the range of styles in her songs. She also dont really fit the image of a queen....maybe coz of her cute image?

Anyways, to sum it up, nobody can replace anyone completely. ayu has done stuff kumi didnt and cant.. and kumi has done stuff ayu didnt and cant too. and nobody can stay on top forever. There will always be someone out of nowhere to take the so called spot of jpop queen. Cant they all be queens?

^ Interesting points you came up with there. Personally I agree. Kumi's music isn't up to par with her peak, sorry to say. It's catchy and commercial but it's all that there is to me.
