If Kuu really said she was against this stupid law, there's one other reason why I'll always love her.

J-Pop is also very expensive. Especially if you wish to collect the whole discography of a artist that you love. I have downloaded Kuu's whole discography (minus secret -first class live- which I actually own) and if I now decide to buy everything I would cry in pain because I have to save my money to get a apartment next year. -.-

Hmm, I am not sure to be honest. D: I know there are SOME where they get content from Japanese fans, like Koda Kumi Complete on Facebook, I think, and I think we get like Kuu's fanclub stuff from Japanese fans? And I am not sure about the people who record the lives.
Given that the law was brought about because of the RIAJ illegal download figures in Japan (which was something like 4.4 million last year or something), I think it's to stop Japanese fans from pirating, but I don't think it should affect us much, because we don't live in Japan? :/ So their laws wouldn't apply to us. I'm sure if Japanese fans don't upload it overseas fans (like on here) will. But they can probably have Japanese Music and videos you upload taken down, though, like on Youtube.

Just don't get caught by your own country. LOL.

As far as I know Finland doesn't really give a damn about downloading Japanese music, they only care of the Finnish music I think, and police usually keeps an eye on programs like DC++ and Pirate Bay here. And I don't even use those, lol.

I don't think that the Canadian government gives a crud about Japanese music, either.

No one does, because no one else has any rights to it.

And idk with as much as a lot of Japanese music isn't available anywhere else, like itunes, seems like it's gonna stay that way...

I don't think this law really makes that much different. It was already illegal to pirate things, and it was enforced. They can't stop piracy anymore than any other country can.

I don't know if Ku said that or if it's just the rough translation...

I always thought that people outside Japan are allowed to download japanese music because it isn't released anywhere else?

Yeah...Japanese Citizens might have to be very careful now, especially is RIAJ is actually documenting their illegal downloads, but I think it shouldn't change much for oversea's fans.

The 2 year sentence and paying such a hefty fine is so harsh, though, just for downloading a song or few? I mean, the hell?

On a lighter note, I am really itching to hear 'Darling' now, it's sounds like it's going to be a lovely light hearted song, like 'Always' and 'In The Air'. <3

no it is just a pop up by avex (I dunno the right word) on every avex artists homepage

most dls come from China or International fans elsewhere anyway, I don't think I have ever seen a Jpop dl that was posted by Japanese fans and Japan isn't the most friendly when it comes to international fans anyway so I doubt they care we dl their stuff for free

I figured as much. Someone infers something in the Ku thread and everyone takes it as fact. Lol.

^I tried to see if the message on Ayu's site was exactly the same as the one on Kuu's but the message disappears on its own. Its hard to tell when you don't speak Japanese.

I dont know enough japanese to tell you exactly what it says but I CAN tell you that america does have ways to track illegal downloading.

Spoiler:
I've worked at a cable company for a year now and these companies "contact" the cable companies for Copyright infringement and we have to take action against individuals and be like "Hey quit your *****" basically. They don't really watch for things off megaupload, etc (as far as I'm aware) but they do track torrents like crazy, and the more you download the more "infringements" you get on your acct, and they can actually shut off your internet because you wont stop downloading. The only way to stop them from tracking it is a Peer block.

That being said, I'd be careful. I've never seen them actually have legal action taken against them (Fines, etc) but I'm sure that's something beyond "the cable companies control". I'm not sure really what happens after that.

Ah, torrents. My cousin got in some trouble for accidentally downloading a torrent that had something to do with Harry Potter in it. The cable company called him up and told him to never do it again. Funny, they are very strict about stuff with Harry Potter in it.

Maybe the company was a hardcore Harry Potter fan community and got pissed because of that. Also, I do use torrents but most of the time I download elsewhere because I know they might track those down. I haven't gotten any notices at all yet (but I know that there are two internet providers in Finland who has began to give those notices to users who download illegally) and I hope it stays that way.

Haha I like that xD
That being said it really does seem like they dont really care too much about any of them making it big overseas, probably because they dont see the need but you'd think avex being avex would take the chance to rake in an extra yen.
Kpop got big worldwide just based off of youtube (id say thats the major factor anyway), avex dont even seem to want a bar of that.

Maybe they're just thinking they won't make it in the western world? I personally think that at least Kuu and Namie would because their music is very western sounding these days. At least to me JAPONESQUE (and Dejavu too) gave me a 100% western vibe. :3 Same goes for Namie's last two (Uncontrolled and PAST<FUTURE) studio albums.

Okay, so, it looks like the readers of BLENDA magazine can now ask questions from Kuu via email, or so this says (used google translator):

I had to share this: I had a dream tonight in which Kumi was starring a musical in Japan, and it became so succesful that they were going to make a movie out of it, and of course Kumi was meant to be the main star of it. That's so unlikely to happen, but it was a good dream hahahahaha Cant remember the theme of the musical though...
