I think she mentions tons of stuff in all her magazine interviews. You can find some translations in the Library section here on AHS, and I did some translations too which you can find at my blog.

Hard to write up a whole thesis on this though. Her lyrics, magazine interviews, TA blog entries, even tweets will be super important references, but it's gonna be tough work if you don't have a grasp on the Japanese language or come across weak/mistranslations of stuff... Just my honest opinion.

If you need help though, I can offer to translate some stuff for you. Just ask, yep~

and GUILTY song was also for tomoya I guess. Or it was more like her feelings after break-up

Why would M be about Tomoya? It's a break up song x____x

^ M does talk about break-ups in general, but only in one verse. The rest of it's definitely more of a love song. I feel that it's a song about a prayer to the Virgin Mary for lasting love, hence the 'Maria' in the lyric (In Japan, the Virgin Mary is not known as Mary, but as Maria) and the reason for the title being "M". Last year December, she performed M on TV (I forgot which show), and she wrote on TA that we'll soon know the reason why she chose to perform it, a few days later she got married. So yep, M's definitely a love song.

Translation of lyrics I did a while back:
Quote:
‘MARIA’ To everyone who has been hurt
Because there is someone they love

Looking around
Everyone seems to be in a hurry
Rushing off past me to someplace else

Once again, this year
Winter has arrived so quickly
Before anyone even realized

Today, surely, somewhere in this city
Two people will meet and look into each others’ eyes
And the curtains open violently

Even so, everything
Will surely, someday
Come to an end

Today, surely, somewhere in this city
Two people will choose the road of separation
And the curtains close silently

‘MARIA’ Because there is someone to love
Sometimes, the feeling of loneliness is strong
But because there is someone to love
Everything will be fulfilled in the end

‘MARIA’ Because there is someone to love
Sometimes, the injury goes deep, so deep
But because there is someone to love
Everything will be healed in the end

‘MARIA’ Everyone, everyone is crying
‘MARIA’ But we all want to believe
‘MARIA’ That’s why we are praying
That this will be our final love

Beginnings can happen without reason
But endings always come with one…

M is definately a love song in which she prays that it will be the last (as in finally meeting her mr right) the last time she last sang was for tomoya. and last yr she sang on music station again when she wanted to announce her new love have began.

^I don't know, IMO it just sounds too sad to be a love song xD Still, Ayu is strange when it comes to love songs, and Misa knows japanese while I only can rely on translations, so, I will believe her^^

Probably Japanese people call the saint "Maria" cuz the cathechism was done by Portuguese priests over there...

^ I think HONEY is for Nagase, judging by the lyrics. Not 100% confirmed though..

Haha thanks for the support. Some of ayu's most powerful love songs have "sad"-sounding tunes, like M, BoY, MOON to name a few...

^It seens like I have being relying on bad translations... I'm reading Kiwi-Musume's translations of Ayu lyrics and some of them have a totally different feeling...
-

She thanked to someone she called "My Honey" on some works she did while they were together... I think I can also remember reading her calling him this way on some TA Posts or Interviews...

Yep, I think it should be Nagase. ^^

No translation is bad unless the translator totally doesn't know any Japanese and is just using Google or something. The translator at kiwi-musume is good, it's just that we translators have different ways of putting across each lyric.

kiwi-musume translates lyrics for lots of other artistes, so what they provide are more literal translations, which the reader has to interpret by themselves. For me, I prefer to look at ayu's state of mind, situation and context when she wrote that particular song, and base my translation off that. For example, reading TA entries and magazine interviews helps me to understand what ayu is thinking, and that gets taken into consideration when I translate lyrics. In the end, my translations tend to point readers in a more specific direction.

So to summarize my rant, it's always up to the reader (you) to determine which translations you like better.

To us, she is "Maria" too :3 Would it just be pronounciation thing?
