AKB48 is an idol group by Akimoto Yashushi. They have a theater in Akihabara (a district in Tokyo, Japan) where they perform once every weekday, and twice on both Saturday and Sunday. The theater is set up on the 8th floor of Don Quixote. The group is split up into 3 teams Team A, Team K and Team B.

Minami Takahashi Team A Captain

An appearance of a Yankii but with a heart of glass is how her introduction goes. Minami Takahashi, known by her nickname Takamina is the captain
of AKB48's Team A and a part of the subgroup No Sleeves (ノースリーブス) known as no3b for short. Having starred in a few drama's such as Mendol and even in a play with Sayaka Takamina is popular with fans and causal fans of AKB.
Some of the things she is known for are having a small height and usually having a bow in her hair. Respected by the other members some consider Takamina as one of the representatives of AKB overall. An upcoming AKB concert is titled "TAKAMINA NI TSUITE IKIMASU" ("We follow Takamina") in YOKOHAMA ARENA.

Sayaka Akimoto Team K Captain

Beautiful and Strong is her introduction. Sayaka Akimoto known to some as Saaya but mostly just Sayaka is captain of AKB48's
Team K. Sayaka will be in the new Subgroup DiVA. Sayaka has been in a few plays such as Infinity along side Minami.
If Sayaka is around Sae is usually somewhere nearby. Together they are known as the Twin Towers. They host a radio show together. Sayaka's known for her athletic side, the fact that she loves to drink Milo her and English skills (part of which comes from her being a huge Michael Jackson fan). Some say she knows the most English out of the group. She is part Filipino.

Yuki Kashiwagi Team B Captain

Yuki Kashiwagi or Yukirin is the captain of AKB48's Team B. She is in the Subgroup French Kiss. When in school she plays trombone.

Atsuko Maeda

Atsuko Maeda known as Acchan is known to many as the face of AKB. She was number 1 in Senbastu until Yuko got number 1.

Kenkyuusei or Research Students are basically trainees. When a member of a team is absent during a show they then will substitute for that member.

Senbatsu

Senbatsu are the members voted to be on a single. 1-21 perform the a side.
The b-side is performed by Undergirls and any girls left are Theater girls.

I hear chanting at the beginning of their songs. What are they saying?

It's called MIX. It's done to help build up intensity of a show usually they are done in the beginning or middle of a song. The one most used goes like this

よっしゃいくぞ～！ タイガー　ファイヤー　サイバー　ファイバー　ダイバー　バイバー　ジャージャー !

Yoshi ikuzo! Taigaa faiyaa saibaa faibaa daibaa baibaa jaa jaa!

Takamina was so good! This definitely cements her as my second favorite. Tomochin looked really different, but cute. And Minegishi sounded good, but she's still one of my least favorites. Am I the only one who thinks she's very ugly? lol

I'm not gonna lie, the first time that I noticed Minegishi was from some DVD bonus content of 10nen Sakura and I was scared because her eyes are ENORMOUS but I think I got used to it, she is not ugly, she is cute and I love her because she is so energetic while performing

I am new with AKB 48 can someone tell me what stages are? Some kind of musicals or just small concerts what is the diffrence bettwen stage and a regular concert from AKb

also I wanted to ask where is a good place to download their DVD's (Avi or ISO) I know they are on JPS but those are heavy and my ratio will be low so I am serchign for Direct Download or ever online watching...

There are lots of differences between stages and concerts

Stages are performed by 16 members: Team A, Team K, Team B (Concerts are performed by 48 members from AKB48 and they use to include members from SKE48/SDN48/NMB48 as well).

From time to time each team get a new stage with a list of new songs. Each team has their own stage songs though in the past they shared stage songs.

They perform stages in AKB theatre (Concerts are performed in big halls).

Before a team starts a new stage they release a CD containing the studio recordings from the latest stage.

In stages they perform a setlist of new stage songs while in concerts they perform a mix of new and old stage and single songs.

You can try downloading from Hello!Online since their ratio restrictions are way less strict than JPS.

Does anybody know where Hello!Online is? I have JPS, but it seems the ISP that I am using is having issues on accessing this site...IP issue for me?
