Ayu has donated 35 million yen to disaster relief

According to this article, Ayu has donated 35,000,000 yen total towards the earthquake and tsunami relief efforts. Incredible... just today, she donated 30 million to the Red Cross on top of the 5 million she donated on the 12th.

Quote:

To put that in perspective, that's about... nearly 430,000 USD / 305,000 EUR / 3.33 million HKD and so on...

Thanks to miskiq for the update!

Hmmm, I'd say maybe around 10,000-20,000? Perhaps a lot more but I think this is a good estimate considering that mu-mo kinda crashed yesterday hours after the shirts were released, haha. They could sell more though!

If she does sell that many, it'll be from 15 million to 30 million yen in proceeds!

Money well spent indeed! Now the media can stop talking poorly of ayu for "not donating/not donating as much as *insert name*".

Even though that might happen, it doesn't matter, she should be used to all that drama by now.

could be her motivation though... ( its was looking pretty bad for her image after all those artists who are not as rich as her and gave a lot more than her) not to talk bad about ayu or anything but she could have give that much first. why do it now after they compared her with everybody else ?
its great she gave that much to help and i m sure it will be put to good use .
i m just wondering why now and not before ?

Maybe she already DID donate a huge sum before the 5m yen but Anonymously? And the 5m was donated only prove that she had donated. And now being agitated by the media, she was forced to donate a huge sum again?
Whatever it is, it doesnt matters how much u donated. Who are we to judge how much 1 has donated? Is it a must to donate? Shouldnt all donates be made annoymous and willingly?

Yeah...
I'm happy she donated, but the timing leaves much to be desired. I personally would have preferred that the donation amount and time not ever be disclosed in this case.
And whether or not she cares about the media, we can all agree that its a pretty serious blow to someone's reputation if it is known that they have money and didn't help their country or fellow country men at a time of crisis.
I think its a pretty ridiculous situation, either way. You can't satisfty everyone.

Yeah the page's gone. That's a lot of money, Square-Enix for instance donated 100 million yen so considering that they are a large company, the fact that Ayu donated 35 says a lot.
