Biography

T-ara (Korean: 티아라, Japanese: ティアラ, often stylized as T-ARA or T♔ARA) is a South Korean girl group formed by Core Contents Media in 2009. Before their debut, there was a high level of interest in the group as they were called "Super Rookies" and had been training for three years prior to debut.[1]
Originally a five-member group, they released their first song "Good Person" for the soundtrack of the Korean drama Cinderella Man in April 2009. In June 2009, members Jiwon and Jiae left the group, delaying the group's debut. The next month, T-ara regrouped to become a six-member group with the addition of Boram, Qri, and Soyeon, and released their debut single "거짓말" ("Lies").
In July 2010, T-ara introduced a new member, Ryu Hwayoung, to become a seven-member group. T-ara uses a rotating leader system, and has a different member of the group elected as leader each year, in order to give both the group and the individual members the opportunity to grow in a new direction.
In 2011, T-ara signed a $4.3 million contract with management company J-ROCK for their Japanese debut, the highest out of all the girl groups debuting in Japan. Their major record label is EMI Music Japan while their management and promotional marketing takes place under J-ROCK. The group's first single, a remake of their 2009 hit "Bo Peep Bo Peep", debuted at #1 on the Oricon weekly charts with 49,712 copies sold.

T-ara is planning to have a big concert this summer, marking their third anniversary and the creation of their official fan club.

Kim Kwangsoo, Core Contents Media CEO, said on the 26th, "Coming in early July, T-ara has plans to create an official fan club and meet fans with a new album. After that, at the end of July, T-ara will have a grand concert to mark their third anniversary since debut."

He continued with, "Already this year, T-ara was able to become a Triple Crown winner with 'Lovey-Dovey' and are feeling good. Because of their fan club and official first concert, they're nervous and excited for July to come."

In addition, Kim Kwangsoo revealed that last year T-ara spent about 10% of their time promoting in Japan. This year, they plan to spend 30% of their time on Japanese promotions.

T-ara's currently in Japan promoting for their "Roly-Poly" single release.

Thank you so much for posting the performances. They were really nice. I wish they would have had a Christmas themed stage but I can understand why "Roly Poly" looks best performed in a burst of color and their Cry Cry outfits were cute.

Thank you so much for posting the MV. The song is beautiful and the voices of both T-ara and Davichi are divine. I was hoping that more members of T-ara would have parts in this song but with the amount of members in the group as well as Davichi, I can understand why they couldn't include everyone. Overall, it's a wonderful Christmas song and I really enjoy listening to their heavenly voices!

When I was on the Diadem forum earlier today, I saw a couple of members discussing this in the chat section but I didn't pay it much mind since there had been no official announcement at that time. Although there is nothing we can do regarding this postponement except to continue waiting, I do think it's quite unprofessional that they waited until the day it was supposed to be released to make this announcement. What a way to disappoint fans so shortly before Christmas.

I agree with you. All of the reasons that the representative provided regarding the postponement of this MV release were things that they've known prior to today (they knew that there was going to be year-end awards, they knew T-ara was still going to be promoting "Cry Cry", and they knew they were going to put out the Christmas single featuring Davichi). Had they mentioned this before this week or even earlier this week, I would have been more understanding regarding the situation but this is just unprofessional. Anyways, when is the repackage album going to be available for preorder? How is it that the MV was going to be released today and the jacket and teaser photos were released about a week ago yet we have yet to hear anything about the album being available for preorder? Are they always this disorganized?

Wow, so now we're getting Roly Poly as a single. I'd complain since I thought it should have been in Japanese already when it was on the yayaya single, but now we'll definitely be getting a video, and we have TWO more Japanese songs to make up for it. I'm very excited about this single. At least they're doing amazing things in Japan, even if their stuff in Korea recently has been ****.
