About Tomo-chan
Birth Name: 下河原朋美 / Shimogawara Tomomi
Stage Name: 華原朋美 / Kahala Tomomi / Kahara Tomomi / Tomo-chan
Birthday: August 17th, 1977 (38 years old)
Debut: September 8th, 1995 with the release of "keep yourself alive"

Tomomi was produced by Komuro Tetsuya at the beginning of her career and during Komuro's intense popularity of the mid 1990's. While her debut single sold mediocrely for the times, her song "I'm proud" gave her major success selling over 1 million copies, skyrocketing her to the top. While her debut album went on to sell over 2 million copies. She has the 3rd best selling debut album in the history of Japanese music.

After leaving Komuro, she had various scandals that have affected her career. A few years ago she was dropped by her record agency for failing to show up to appointments and was found to have been using drugs.

However, since appearing on FNS Kayousai in December, her debut with Universal Music Japan will finally be released!

I decided to make a thread to share information about Kahala Tomomi's comeback to music. I hope people will give her a try.

I will update this thread with all the current information that I can find on her! But please give the teaser of her single a try!

She sings really great live too! Here's a video of her singing I'm proud in January!

Her voice is beautiful!



The set of the video is an homage to the scene in which Fantine sings it in the movie~

Great news! was just about to buy her single too...I'll just wait for the album Really really wish "here we are" was on it though, the song would sound so amazing with stable vocals

I saw her yesterday at Kayou Kyoku TV-programme! wow, she cried and sang so emotionally! I was really impressed.

and tbh she reminded me of Amuro Namie so much!! they were congratulating her with "resurrection" (Nakai, AKB girls and that woman from Kayou Kyoku)..*hopes she'll do great now!

I love I Dreamed a Dream with a huge passion (as I do with everything Les Mis-related) so I was nervous to hear a Japanese cover of it but I feel that she did a wonderful job and the PV is beautiful
