Kanjani∞ (関ジャニ∞ (エイト)) is a seven member idol group under Johnny & Associates. Their record company is Teichiku Entertainment.

In December, 2002 the group was created out of members of Kansai Juniors. At the time, the 7 members were appearing on the TV program "J³KANSAI" on Kansai TV. In the Kansai area, Kansai TV is on channel 8, so Kitagawa Johnny added another member, Ohkura Tadayoshi, to match the channel number and their unit was than called as Kanjani8 (関ジャニ8).

Shortly after their formation, they held their first concert, titled "Kanjani8 Xmas Party 2002" at the Osaka Shouchikuza theater, where they performed their first song as an 8-member group, "Do you agree?" On August 25th, 2004 they released their first single, Naniwa Iroha Bushi which was first limited to the Kansai area but later (September 22nd) was released nationally as well.

The limited-release CD debuted at a record #1 on the Oricon Enka chart, and a #8 on the overall chart. The nationwide release reached #1 on both the enka and overall charts. At this time, the numerical "8" in their name was turned onto its side and made into an infinity symbol (∞). The members are known for being very close, possibly even the closest in all of Johnny's, shown by their annual barbecues and birthday celebrations together.

In concerts they have been known to dress up as "Kanjani Sentai 8 Ranger" and do skits. Their ranger outfits of course are in their image colors. In 2005, Uchi Hiroki was suspended from all activities with Kanjani8 due to an underaged drinking incident. Other than a part in the musical PLAYZONE, Uchi had remained away from the public eye. In 2007 he was brought onstage during a Kanjani8 concert where the members welcomed him back as a member of their unit, although there was no official statement at the time.

In January 2008, Uchi Hiroki officially graduated from his "trainee" status. It is uncertain whether Uchi will return as a member of Kanjani8, but in the meantime he will pursue solo activities. Uchi starred in a dorama called Isshun no Kaze ni Nare, along with Nishikido Ryo.

I'm not actually a fan of them, but I recently watch a live performance of their single, Gamushara Koushinkyoku, in MUSIC STATION (when Ayu's "movin' on without you" was revealed). I must say, I'm quite impressed with them, especially Shibutani Subaru.

Kanjani8's Shibutani Subaru will release his first solo single. In addition, he will hold his first solo live tour starting on January 18th of next year.

Shibutani will be the first in Kanjani8 to release a solo single. His songs, "Kokoro Odoreba" and "Kioku", which are the theme songs for his starring film 'Misono Universe' (February 14 release), will be released as a double A-side single.

Shibutani's upcoming tour will kick off on January 18th at live house 'Misono Universe' in Osaka, which was also used as the set for the film. Until February 25, he will make stops at 10 venues in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and other locations for a total of 13 shows.

Shibutani Subaru, plays “Pochio”, a young man who has lost his memory but not his ability to sing. Music themed film “Misono Universe” deals with this man, who rushes the stage of a live performance and takes the mic. The young man’s singing impresses the band and the band’s manager, but they learn he suffers from memory loss and he has no idea who he is. He meets Kasumi, played by Nikaido Fumi, manager of the band Akainu, and decides to face his past and regain himself. The movie is set in Osaka.

The movie is directed by Yamashita Nobuhiro. Included in the cast are the band Akainu, talent Suzuki Sarina, and comedian Kawahara Katsumi from the duo Tenjiku Nezumi.

Movie title “Misono Universe” refers to a location in Osaka, Japan. “Misono” is the name of a building that houses restaurants, a hotel and massage places. The building opened in 1956 and is located in the Sennichimae area of Osaka. “Universe” in the movie title refers to an upscale cabaret that was located in the Misono building. Cabaret “Universe” closed down for good in 2011, but a popular live club named “Universe” took its place.

I used to support/listen to Kanjani∞ but now I don't do so anymore

Their older works I feel are still their best & after a while they keep on putting out stuff so fast until I can't keep track at all

Not sure how this solo single will perform in the Oricon. There could be a chance Subaru gets #1, but I have a feeling he might not either.

"Subaru Shibutani debut single topped the Oricon weekly list"

Kanjani8 member Shibutani Subaru released his debut solo single " Kioku / Kokoro Odoreba " on February 11 . According to Oricon , the single sold 101,000 copies during its first week and reached the top spot on the weekly list.

This is the first time in eight months in which a solo artist topped the singles chart since Kim Hyun Joong got with "HOT SUN " in April 2014) .

Both songs that give title track are the themes of the film starring Shibutani Subaru " Mizono Universe" premiered on February 14 . The limited edition includes a DVD with the music video for " Kioku " , while the regular edition includes two bonus tracks " Nokkari Train" and " Mamori Uta ", both written and composed by Shibutani own .

Kanjani8 will release new DVD/Blu-ray Live Tour;

Kanjanism Live Tour 2014>>2015

It has been announced the release date of the DVD entitled "Kanjanism Live Tour 2014 >> 2015" which will be released on April 29, 2015.

The concert will be released in three different formats Regular Edition DVD, DVD and Bluray edition Limited Edition. The Limited Edition DVD includes 4 discs in which the first two are dedicated to the concert and the other two images of video extras including Making off of the tour and pieces of conversations concerts.

According to the official website. The Limited Edition will include a special box along with a photo book of 44 pages, and as extras on the discs, Kanjani8 House (of which not yet listed in question) and summary of the MC of each place. As for extras Bluray includes recording Multiangle "Misoji Shonen," "Masterpiece," "Banso," "Doyagao Jinsei," and "Omoidama" in addition to performances at every concert of the song "Misoji Shonen" .

As for the final song or endroll will be two as in recent concerts, one for Bluray and DVD Regular Edition version with a remix of the song Gamushara Koushinkyoku. And other than for the Limited Edition DVD with Remix of the song "Omoidama endroll".

[ News ] Kanjani8 held a " Recital" Summer + New Single " tsuyoku , tsuyoku , tsuyoku "

It was announced that Kanjani8 hold a local concert tour "recital" format this summer from July to September, hailed as "Kanjani8 Recital Omae wo tsukandaru no heart!". Their places of actions have increased stadiums and domes in recent years, but this time will emphasize the closeness to the fans. Therefore, neither were selected major places of usual city.

Shingo Murakami describes the intent of the plan as "a new start for the 11th year since debut. This time I wanted to go see from here." To focus on close interaction with the fans, he added "The stage will be set as close as possible to the fans to the extent permitted by the Fire Service Act".

The "Recital" Kanjani8 will last for two hours, consisting of 10 songs live and events where fans participate, in collaboration with local broadcasters for planning.

Furthermore, the first single of the year the group, "tsuyoku, tsuyoku, tsuyoku" will be released on June 3. The song is used as the theme of the new NTV drama "Do S Keiji" starring Ohkura Tadayoshi.
