Question Can you truly be a fan if...

You've never legally obtained a Ayu CD/DVD/VHS? I just don't understand how a person can call him/herself a fan if they have never actually bought any Ayu item. Yes, there are people who don't have the financial means to go and buy her products like some of us do, but come on... I've heard people brag about never having bought any of her CDs and about how they just download everything. If you take something from someone without paying for it, is still considered STEALING, right? A person who takes things from someone else at the expense of the other person is still considered a FREELOADER, right?

Hello there, my name is Cory and I've never spent a dollar on Ayumi. I'm a fan I'm not a freeloader, I'm a student

In my opinion, you're a fan if you like something... maybe not the best, but a fan nonetheless

Yes you can be a fan even if you don't have any CDs. Being a fan of someone/something doesn't just mean having something related to it, it's what you feel that counts or something like that.

Back in 2000, I was already an ayu fan, and I didn't even have a CD or even dled mp3s.... okay, I DID dl mp3's, but that was my only choice at the time. Anywho, I would watch V Chinese all day and wait for an ayu PV to play, and when they did I'd jump for joy and turn the volume up. Hehe... well, enough about my story... ^^;;;

I'm a huge Ayu fan, but I only have 2 of her albums.
I think you can be a fan and not own anything...

It grows on you... when I started liking ayu I considered myself a fan and I didn't have any of her CDs...

But if You are a fan... you will eventually want to have her stuff.... this feeling will grow on You so much and You will start buying her stuff... that is if You are trully a fan and You esteem the artist You love so much...

When I joined AHS - I read so many times that people are buyig her stuff and I felt envious - "They are so rich, they buy her stuff" - I thought.... but since I won the "forgiveness" single in one of the contests here on AHS - I started buying more. I got one single and the temptation to have more appeared... I bought "No way to say", "&", "}{", "M", "Memorial address" and I am ordering "COMPLETE CLIP BOX" and "Moments" next week. And I definatelly will buy her every new release.

I don't know if I will be ever able to buy all her past albums/singles but I am sure I will buy all her new stuff... because I am a fan and because I want to.

I've been a fan of Ayu since 2000, but it wasn't til August 2003 that I owned my first "real" Ayu items. For a while, I didn't really consider myself much of a fan, as some people I talked to would say things like "Why do you care if it has 4 tracks? It's not like you're gonna buy it", but I really didn't have a way to buy any CDs around here. Last summer, I was able to go to NY and go to Kino for the first time and bought a few CDs/magazines. While it did feel different in buying the actual CDs I had as MP3s, I didn't feel like I was "better" than people who didn't have any items. To me, there's loads of ways of expressiong your fandom to Ayu (or any other artist/item). Just because you're a fan of baseball doesn't mean you own your own baseball team, or have someone's signature. Just because you're a fan of a particular show doesn't mean you own it on DVD. As long as you are satisfied with how you like someone/something, that's what should matter the most

I'm a fan, though people on this forum could argue that.

I only own her Rainbow CD but I also have the cover of Rainbow(the image) on a t-shirt custom made for me and the last picture in the booklet scan of Rainbow(where she's lying down in all the fruity color cloth) on my mouse pad. 21 gigs of her on my second harddrive including like 3,000 wallpapers.(I have no idea why I collect EVERYTHING online of Ayumi... seriously I don't know why)

I actually became a fan of he the night I first saw her. (ddr after tournament party my friend on the same team showed us Evolution, everyone there knew who she was but me) So I got home, couldn't remember her name but went on Kazaa, looked for Evolution and some Japanese name then boom. Ended up getting about 50 songs in 3 days on a 56k and 2 PVs. From right there on grew to what I have now.

My best friend hates Ayumi and all other Jpop singers, likewise my family(they all sound the same and can't understan them. "why don't you listen to real music(aka american music)?)

Everytime he says she's annoying I'm juts like "pffft classic rock is just as crappy then" I don't mean it as much as he does but I know it gets him mad like it does with me.

So see everyone, I do defend Ayumi more than I attack.. just that you just have to say something ridiculous to get me to tat point... and I've trailed WAY off subject.

So in conclusion, sure I freeload and steal all of her songs. But people lik those on this forum help make it happen. Why spend a ton of money and time waiting to get the album when you can just burn it or download it?

I get most of my Ayumi stuff on this forum now so if you want to put an end to the freeloading, take it up to those who grant us what they have.

I dun think you gotta buy stuff to be a fan, but to brag about downloading isn't right in my opinion.
