welll i always first burn an album or something like that and then i use my cd/md player to copy them digitally... i cud also do it with the cables which are connected through my mixer but then it wont be digital anymore, i guess the way im doing it is the best way to keep it digital without net md =)

If not using a Net MD, here's how it works.

You can either use a MD/CD Hi-fi to record whatever's on the CD onto the MD. Usually, Hi-Fis nowadays with MD/CD should have a 2x speed recording or 4x speed recording or whatever.

Or you could buy a cable to hook up a Recordable portably MD player to a discman to record. Which then, you can use your recordable portable MD to play the minidisc afterwards.

MDs already containing music released by record companies are scarce, people rarely release them, but there are some around.

I use the first method I mentioned, since I have a CD/MD Mini Hi-Fi.

If you want songs you only have in mp3 format, you can always burn them into CD first in a CD format, then record it onto the MD.

well if u use normal cables (like the cables u use between ur amplifier and cd player for example), then it wont be digital... digital copying usually means better sound quality

u can also use optical cables to copy it digital =)

hope this answers ur question?

I've got a Sony MD and OpenMGJukebox, an application which allows you to copy MP3s straight to MiniDisc. My MD can be connected to my PC with a USB cable. Easy as hell.

If your Mini Disc have an optical in then you can use the optical cable to record music from cd player, online, etc.
That's how I do it most of the time even though mine is a NET MD.

i use a mp3 stick. batteries last 1,5 weeks. awesome =P And i don't need a usb cable. the rear end of my mp3 player is a big usb plug XD

I just don't see the point in buying MD players if you can buy mp3 players. they're much smaller, cheaper, more convenient, energyfriendly, than MD players.

for the older MD players (not Net or Hi) you can buy those cables that connect the MD player to the speaker .. and so when you press record on your MD it just records whatever you play on the computer ..

i used to just play songs on winamp and record it like that ..

but now i have an mp3 player

Mp3 memory sticks aren't cheap at all, you'll have to constantly erase things to add new ones, which prevents you from organising things into different discs you can keep.

About storage, MD's LP4 can store about 5 hours which I find is quite enough.

How much are mp3 players anyway? SONY ones usually aren't much over 200USD and often under, and other brands such as Sharp and Panasonic are generally cheaper.

Energy wise, I could go for a month without recharging even if I listen to it for an hour or two every weekday.

Though I can see why alot of people who don't purchase their music prefer mp3 players though.

So, what should a non-old fashioned CD player look like?
