HK singer stole Ayu's song!
I was watching Miss Asia 2004 pageant yesterday in my chinese channel. After the break, they introduced a female singer and performed for the pageant. I was doing my homework so i wasn't really paying attention... until i heard the EXACT same beat as Ayu's 'End Roll' and it's THE SAME BEAT. My mom didn't believed me, so i took my A BEST album and my CD player. After hearing it, she said it was exactely like Ayu's song too.
Is it stealing someone else's song? I mean, it's not the first time. I heard other chinese singer sing a song that has 'Slave 4 U' from Britney's beat and Justin's first single beat too. Do they even have the right to do that?

Well, she's just singing it for the pageant right? Most people sing famous songs at pageants. Kind of like on American Idol, or any other talent searching contest. I assume that she was singing it in Chinese, though. Shino Lin did a Chinese cover of End roll, so that is probably the version that the girl is singing in the pageant.

I downloaded it before....
:;tries really hard to think of the name again:: The Chinese singer has a deeper voice though, and her voice isn't as full of emotion. |

Yeah, it's allowed.. it's like singing a cover of a song.. but you need the singers' permission for that..

It's hard to find/know someone that can attempt an Ayu song and it actually sounds good..

This is not my opinion but it is fact. Most taiwanese singers you see these days in MTV, in almost every album, there will be songs which are covers of japanese/korean/english songs. They do it so often; that it gets me intolerant, in sg tv i notice, they tend to play the 'taiwan covers' music commercials first and then the original japanese/korean version, giving the general public the idea that the original ones are actually covers instead..
![]() My conclusion is because these people don't have ability to compose music, that's why they need to sing other ppl's songs. The sad thing, some people actually think japan/korea is try to copy taiwanese singers by singing their song (without know who's the original one), but in 99.9% cases, the original japan/korea/english ones are always the 'much' better version. I don't think they steal the songs, more like their company borrowed the song under legal methods.

Old news...
Actually I'm okay with this rendition. Someone told me they now hava an 2004 version where they inserted some English lines in place of some of the 娃娃爱天下 lyrics (Chinese lyrics). Last edited by lolo66; 18th January 2005 at 07:34 PM. |

If we are to assume the Honk Kong singer stole the song we have to assume ayu stole shotsugyo shashin from yumi matsutoya. Honestly I think the HK singer got permission for that so the song is actually a cover.

People cover songs all the time, and as others said, they do get permission to do so.
Almost every big artist has covered, or borrowed certain playbacks, from other peoples' songs. It's nothing new and I don't see why anyone should be criticized for doing so. Japanese artists do plenty of covers of English songs, etc. etc. Like Chrono said, it'd be pretty flattering to have your song covered. |
