^Agreed. Also be aware of "Brand New and Sealed" Ayu DVDs being sold for $9.99. Her actual stuff sells for much more than that.

I too have been duped by the same seller. My copy of 'My Story', was a bootleg. I have since gotten a real copy of it. Normally, I don't have a problem with illegal stuff on eBay. This is the first time this has happend. But the good thing is I haven't left feedback for him yet. Needless to say, he's getting negative feedback from me, since the CD was presented as being the real deal. I really wish eBay would start booting people that sell bootleg CDs and DVDs.

Ouch, that sucks. That's why if I ever buy Ayumi online I make sure they give accurate information, have a really, really postive rating, and if possible, have photos of the product. Still won't guarantee it's real, but it raises your chances of not getting duped. I've certainly found great Ayu deals on eBay.. I got Duty and LOVEppears used but in EXCELLENT (no scratches, even with the OBIs and inserts!) condition at $11 a pop from a seller in Japan.

Point being, just be careful. Lots of people sell bootlegs and hope that the buyer won't notice -- this is especially crappy if it's someone new to jpop and they find out a while later that their copy isn't real.. some are convincing -- so you just have to keep your eyes out. It's always better to buy from a trusted place like YesAsia.

Wow, I've never had that problem before. I guess I stick to people with stores who have really high positive feedback.

Aw, that sucks.

Speaking of bootleg dvds. Are all region free dvds bootlegs? I've seen quite a few on ebay.

All region DVD = bootleg, 100% sure. Don't ever buy those brand new sealed cheap deal, there's no reason for them to be that cheap if they are original releases.

I've gotten lots of ayu stuff from eBay, such as appears and Fly high single, and another 20 singles deal which I paid around 78 US dollar (less than 4 dollar per single, which is great). Just read the feedback carefully and also the description. It's not hard to spot a bootleg from its description, the seller would say it's original authentic japan copy (with obi, sometimes) if it really is, and if they keep quiet about the stuff they're selling by giving you only the condition, title and artist, beware.

How eBay works is partly base on trust, I'm sure there's cheater out there but there's still lots of good deal at eBay. I haven't gotten dissapointed so far, just be careful and smart.

(watch out for sellers from China selling dirt cheap bootleg DVD with ALL region, also if the seller is from Taiwan, Singapore, or Hong Kong, those are overseas version, mostly)

It certainly sucks to find out that the item you've purchased is a bootleg, I hope you didn't have to pay too much for shipping or anything.

But the thing is, I don't think you can report the seller to eBay. And if you do, there's not much that they can do about it. I was looking through that seller's feedback and item descriptions (some were Ayu DVDs) and he never stated that the item was an official Avex Trax release. If he did and you received a bootleg, then you would probably be able to take it up with eBay and get your money back. But since he didn't specify, it's assumed that it's the bidder's responsibility to know what they're bidding on.

It's really sad that some people will try to sell bootlegged merchandise on eBay, but hopefully that won't deter you in the future. Like some people said, some things to look out for are very low prices for brand new and sealed items, as well as All-Region DVDs (all Ayu DVDs are Region 2 for Japan versions, or Region 3 for Overseas).

eBay can suspend the seller's account.

From eBay's Policies:

Warning
Listings offering bootleg CDs and video may be ended early by eBay. Multiple violations of eBay's bootleg recording policy could result in the suspension of your account.
So far, this seller has 100% positive feedback. So it would take more than just hiroko1234's report to get their account suspended.
