Just watched Mariah Carey on Utaban. Miming. Why? If anyone doesn't need to mime its her. Didn't think that went down at all well in Japan. She was also on MS. Anyone see? Did she mime then?
She's been miming most of her TV appearences everywhere since about 1997. Pathetic.

You can tell coz they're lips don't move with the music, or it sounds too much like the record. Or like Britney, their voice has been edited so much on the record.
But then sometimes TV producers put the music in becoz it produces better sound or something.

i've never seen her lipsynching. actually she really don't need that kind of thing, she's awesome live... i guess you just couldn't believe how great she sounded in her live performances and thought that she was lipsynching...

i think that mariah got worse and worse lately.i'm not sure about the whole miming thing but i'm pretty sure that she is not as great as she was.
her voice was strong n awesome but in her latest album(s) her voice's barely a whisper.
i really miss the old mariah.she really is a diva (in that good ol' day of course)
do you think it has anything to do with her marriage?coz i think she's gettin worse since she divorced with that mottola guy.

A lot of western singers lip-sync on overseas shows. For example, they lip-sync on Japanese and European shows. Sometimes it's due to their tight schedules, and sometimes it's just required. I know some European shows prefer singers to lip-sync in order to ensure the highest qualities.

If you've watched Mariah's performances in America, you'd see that she sings LIVE in the States. coz if she didn't, people would attack her (like what happened to a. simpson). She has performed on Good Morning America, BET, VH1 Save The Music Special, The View, etc. so far this year, all of them were live and she sounded amazing. She doesn't whisper anymore. Forget about her whispery vocals on Rainbow and Charmbracelet, her newest album, "The Emancipation of Mimi", features tons of powerful vocals.

I saw her perform a new song on some talk show about a week ago, she was live and very amazing. It sounded like a CD-quality recording, but was obviously live.

I saw her performing It's Like That and We Belong Together live as well. But it's very normal to see her miming, and of course her nickname (Mimi) has nothing to do with it.

when she came to brazil she did lipsynching too, but it was just a tiny presentation in a tv show to promote charmbracelet.

She lipsynchs for almost all of her overseas TV performances, and has for quite some time. Overseas they tell her that they prefer her to lipsynch. It has nothing to do with the power of her voice though...I was a guest at a taping of a special she recorded a couple months ago, in preparation of promoting the new album and I heard her sing several songs live and she was AMAZING.
