RAINBOW question
I have a couple of questions on this beautiful piece.
![]() = I understand that she thanks all RAINBOW lovers. Is that because some people gave her ideas for the song? (<-- kind of a, "I can't remember" question.) = Is the song for RAINBOW lovers? For example, "Who..." she's singing to her grandmother and "teddy bear" she's singing to her father. Or is this just another song sung just using the word "you" (no one in particular) like most artists do. = Any reason it's called RAINBOW? My guess is that... well, it's hard for me to explain. Or should I just look at the lyrics again? Sorry if I sound like an annoying fan who just wants a couple of answers. ![]() ![]()

As far as I can remember, fans helped her pick some of the lyrics for RAINBOW. When the RAINBOW album came out there was a sheet in first press copies with a code and you emailed the code to an email addy, and you got the URL for a site where you listened to a sample of the track and read the lyrics, then voted for the ones you liked - it was something like that anyway. I got a first press CD and that sheet was in it, but I couldn't understand it, so I can't remember exactly what way it worked. Maybe she says for all RAINBOW lovers because of those that helped choose the lyrics. If you look at the lyrics, the English lyrics are 'no rain can't get the rainbow', so the song seems to be about that you can't get the good without the bad first, something like that...

From my memory, there is a sheet in the First Press of RAINBOW with a code to enter a special website, but it is to sample a short clip of the RAINBOW instrumental.
The fans were then encouraged to submit a set of lyrics to the instrumental of the RAINBOW sample clip. (Which was really just one verse) She then used those submissions as possible ideas when she penned the song. |

K's got it right. I think they asked for keywords really as opposed to whole lines though but maybe it didn't matter really.
As far as whether it's FOR "Rainbow-lovers" or not, I think it's kind of a monologue to her fans about her realization that her priorities were messed around for awhile, but when she discovered what was important she felt like a weight was off her shoulders. It's about her, but it is meant for the fans to hear & understand better than anyone else would. The song's title is explained with the lyrics at the end of the song. "No rain, can't get the rainbow". ... there's no way you can expect happiness in the long run unless you work & go through pains to get it. And ayu did that. She was miserable at first but it was worth what she learned from it all.
