and sankyuu isn't really engrish as far as my understanding goes ... it has become an actual japanese word. like the other 'english' words they use for stuff like 'hamburger'...

Not really, it's because they have a smaller alphabet than english, so western words are learnt and written by how the word is pronounced in their alphabet. They don't use 'th' together, so 'thank' becomes 'saank' and 'you' becomes 'yuu'. It's not because they're not fluent, it's down to a difference in our alphabets and pronounciation.

Perhaps because she was just talking to americans...
But i thought of the same thing last night ( i think )
Wouldnt that be kinda cool if every once in a while Ayu would make her same old awesome music type(instead of the new. I am... album quality. )
But in english?
I think that would be neat....

Her new music should NEVER be compared with songs from I Am.... They are most definitely NOT of the same high quality.

I'd like her to speak fluent English like Utada though, that would open up the possibilty of Ayu singing in English and conquering the world music charts! ^^

that would be cool. an english Powder Snow would be good.....but a big issue of english versions, ive tried singing translations...its excruciating...the words dont line up...like in INSPIRE, at "You see, to talk about love or dream isnt uncool at all", yu finish saying that and shes still going....ive tried and tried and still cant lien them up. her older songs are harder. ive tried Limit from her Nothing from Nothing album and trust me...yu never want to try that....

I agree with Yaten. It could very well be integrated into the Japanese language now...Japanglish? XD She could just be saying Sankyuu like that just to be cute?

i think she just says "sankyou" to Japanese people but when she talks to Americans she tries to pronounce it better like "thankyou"

The first few times I heard the "Thankyou, guys! Thankyou..." I was, like, 'wait! That caaaaan't be Ayu's voice!'. I always found that she sounded more nasal when she spoke...but then I thought of the absurdity of her getting an American to dub her voice over in the clip... XDD

I guess she's been practising! That's good, as maybe soon we will hear more of her in English~

I say "sannkyuu" a bit, but only in the context of someone speaking Japanese to me. I guess it looks a little wierd to people nearby ^_^;;
