how do you create Fanmade Remixes?

I remember reading on the Remix Contest thread, someone gave a link for Sony ACID

I'm not sure if this is exacly for remixing, but it's one of the sofwares ^^
Ah, and there's "FruityLoops" as well.

It would be great if anyone else has other/better for remixing sofwares.
