Ayumi's Name is Ayumi... Read before posting about Kurumi!!

Okay, WAY too many people are posting about what Ayumi's REAL name is lately. Here it is.

Ayumi Hamasaki was born with the name Ayumi. The name "Kurumi Hamazaki" was used by ONE talent agency for ONE thing, and that was her role in Twins Teacher. She's known as Ayumi for absolutely EVERYTHING else, including life.

That's it.

Thank you for your time.

Heh, I've read about that recently on Wikipedia. I thought it was still a controversy/mystery with that other/original name. I didn't know it was for one movie only though. But she was infact credited as Hamasaki Ayumi for Nagisa no Sindbad...

Hehe, I take anything you say as given, I somehow decided to trust you.

@kirika I belive the source is herself, with what information she has collected and conclusions she has made throughout the years.

Also doesn't wikipedia have the Chinese kanji for her name marked as the "real" kanji for her name? 濱崎歩 is what they say her real name is, but I think that's just the Chinese, whereas 浜崎あゆみ is her real Japanese name.

浜崎歩 is her given birth name, whereas 浜崎あゆみ is her artist name. According to my teacher it's written in the Japanese law that everyone must have a 100% kanji name.

For the reference, kanji is the symbols the Japanese have borrowed from china, in many cases giving them new meaning and pronounciation.

^I didn't literally mean borrow, it's usually called that when a country uses words from another language. Thanks for the information though .

Ooh...before I thought that 濱崎歩 was used only because the 浜 from 浜崎 doesn't exist in Chinese, thus they used a homonym, which is 濱 and it means the same thing...and that they had to translate あゆみ into 歩 since it literally means step (other wise they can't translate あゆみ because it's Japanese characters). Thanks for clearing this up, I was so confused before.

I never heard that law, and my cousin is Japanese. I think that 浜崎歩 is possibly her real name, not 濱崎歩.

A lot of names are hiragana-only, they don't have kanji equivalents, so I'm not so sure about this law that you're talking about.

Whoups, I'm extremely sorry, I misstyped when writing her name, ofcourse I meant 浜崎歩! I'll edit my post immediately.

I'm not sure either, I was just quoting my teacher who lived there for several years, he's not from Japan though.
