Seems that Koda has a spot before the big three now [ELT/TRF/Ayu]. I think BoA might come after her though in a later show.. :O

Thanks! Yep. BoA is only performing in 1 Osaka show and 1 Tokyo show. Why is Suzuki Ami before "本編Start" Does it mean the actual concert start or is it some musical group? I guess since this was in a somewhat small city, not that many performers?

About 35 minutes before the concert was scheduled to start and most of the audience still hadn't taken their places, the first "warm-up" artist suddenly made their debut on stage, and everyone who was there stood up on their little squares. On last year's concert video, the opening act was a group called SweetS which wasn't particularly impressive. They were just a bit too young and amateur. This time, the opening was another unknown artist called "mihimaru GT". Maybe it was just exciting to see anyone perform at first, but they seemed not bad at all. The guy can rap, and the girl can sing. What more could you ask for in an opening act? They performed about two or three songs, and all of them seemed pretty good. I was well in front of the second set of huge speakers, so I was getting all of my sound from the two huge speakers on stage, and the sound quality was quite good for an outdoor concert. I've heard much worse at indoor venues actually.

After mihimaru GT left the stage, there was only a brief break which everyone used to sit back down in their places. I used these short breaks throughout the concert to rest my legs a bit and gulp down some bottled water or Aquarius Sports Drink. (The sponsor was Pocari Sweat, but I had brought in Aquarius with me.) Keeping hydrated in the heat was essential on such a hot day when I was stuck in the sun. In fact, I drank four bottles total and never had to go to the restroom since it was all coming out of my pores anyway. It may sound gross, but everyone there was sweaty as hell. You were in the minority if your shirt wasn't completely soaked in sweat.


Basically Ami's a warmup act of that show..? D:

I wonder if Koda have lots of songs. I wasn't expecting her to come after ELT, TRF or Ayu, but I think she may have a big tracklist because she is the bestseller after all...

And I see many big artists were there... Koda, Ai, hitomi. They attract people to concerts too...

And Ami Suzuki as an opening act? Wow... AVEX really gave up on promoting her? I read she's now pursuing a acting carreer.

[edit] In '04, Ai Otsuka was the opening act and she was very popular, so Ami Suzuki playing before the official start isn't that bad.

I thought Ai was the 'opening act' as in the OTHER kind, where they start the official show.. sort of like how AAA/Tohoshinki is like.

No she wasn't. According to the J-Fan report, she played well before the concert was scheduled to begin. So, she was an opening act.

No, she wasn't. I'll quote what he wrote:

Everyone assumed this was just an advertisement, but it turned out to be Otsuka Ai's introduction as she soon appeared on stage with a band behind her, performing one of her singles. I don't think anyone was expecting to see her on stage before 4:00.

So, she played before the official start time, just like Ami Suzuki.

By the time Otsuka Ai was finished, the concert had officially begun. The next artist was one of the special guest artists from a non-avex lable. This year not only avex artists were performing, but also a few artists mostly from Sony were invited as well. At some of the other a-nation concerts this year, Porno Graffitti and Tommy February were performing, but unfortunately neither of them were included in the Nagoya concert. I would have really loved to see both of them. Instead, Hanawa took to the stage after Otsuka Ai

Technically they probably could've placed her there to get the crowd pumped up.. D:? Cause in this instance there was a warm-up artist as well as Ai afterwards.. who was then followed by a surprise artist. [sort of like how its Tohoshinki/AAA/surprise artist..]

Anyway, it's not surprising Ami is sandwiched between two unknow act because she isn't popular at all.

And she went 'first' before the actual start. Then Tohoshinki and AAA. Who are VERY well known bands, one being a super freakin popular one from Korea and one is a group that quickly gaining momentum in the J-pop world with catchy tunes and explosive routines. ;D

Yes, she has fans. Just not many of them. AVEX made a big big big promotion: there was billboards everywhere in Tokyo, a Zepp tour and a Kohaku appearence and her sales are very low. So there's no excuse...
