Family Values Tour live report

This from my LJ so there's some swearing in it. I forewarn you- it's long and mostly about Dir en grey, lol. I just though I'd post it if anyone was interested

Quote:
Family Values Tour September 9th @ DTE (Detroit, MI)

Me and my uncle left at 11:15-ish and ate lunch and got to DTE at around 1:00. When we left it was warm and sunny. On the way there it poured (not back in Windsor though...) and the temperature dropped like whoa.

When we got in I went looking for the FYE tent and before I lined up, some girl said to me, "oh, another Dir en grey fan. We're not alone." Hahaha. So, I went up and it didn't seem like they had The Code of VULGAR[ism] so, I asked for It Withers and Withers and VULGAR. The girl getting the stuff for me was nice enough to tell me that I could only meet them if I bought a signed copy of Withering to death. So I did. My 3rd copy. Anyways, that was $100 right there x_x And I got a wristband with purple circles.

After that, we went and sat down. Our tickets were for centre JJ and I was worried about not being able to see anything, but I could see perfectly! Walls of Jericho were first on. I wasn't overly thrilled with them, but they weren't bad. Bullets and Octane were next and their vocalist's pants were so ****ing low! The guys sitting behind me kept yelling, "pull up your pants!" and "we don't wanna see your ass!" lmao. I liked them better because I have a thing against female vocalists. I suck, I know. Then it was Deadsy. What kinda name is that? I do not know. They kinda sucked hahaha. I heard Bury Your Dead were good, but I didn't really like them either. They got the crowd going though. And their vocalist went up into the lawn. Last was 10 Years. I thought they were really good. Oh, their vocalist came out in a winter coat and big, yellow... rainboots? He also slipped at some point. But, on the left side of the stage, they had the next set of drums there and at this point meant they were Shinya's. Then, he went over and tested them or something. Now, I liked 10 Years, but nothing they could do at this point would get my mind away from Dir en grey.Dir en grey.Dir en grey! (Thanks, Shinya XP)

It was so cold there, all I did was shiver through all those bands, but finally Dir en grey came out! I stood up for them and noticed some other fans close by me. They opened with G.D.S and after a couple times of "kill! kill! kill!" they finally came out. It was pretty surreal for me. I wasn't watching/listening to this on my computer or TV, they were right there. Kyo put the bucket on his head, but I'm not sure if it said anything. He did the blood thing and cut his stomach. Die and Toshiya seemed really into it and energectic When they started with Saku, I couldn't even tell what it was lol. Ryoujoku no Ame sounds so good live and the new song was really, really good! I was really freaking happy they played THE IIID EMPIRE and Merciless Cult. They were so completely ****ing awesome live, I can't even tell you. It seemed like it was over so fast, though.

G.D.S
Saku
Ryoujoku no Ame
Kodoku ni Shisu, Yue ni Kodoku
Merciless Cult
dead tree
New Song (I haven't listened to the Budokan rip, so I'm not sure which it was)
THE FINAL
THE IIID EMPIRE

Right after that we went to the meet and greet. We actually wound up in the Korn line first but we figured it out soon enough. I knew there were some people in the pavillion, but the line for the m&g was ****ing huge! There had to have been over 100 people for sure. Die and Shinya were doing it this time. It's literally 2.5 seconds you're with them, lol. I shook their hands and said, "thank you" and that was that. I'm surpised I wasn't nervous at all. I was in line but by the time I got up there, I was fine.

Then, I went to another stand thing and bought a Dir en grey t-shirt with tour dates and a poster. Another $40 Me and my uncle took our seats again. We missed Flyleaf (who I really wanted to see) because of Dir en grey's meet and greet, but were in time to see some of Stone Sour's set. If I had more than $10 left, I would have bought their CD. They were awesome. They played Through Glass, which I love and Bother but they had some really heavy stuff too. At this point I was trembleing I was so cold, which made it hard to enjoy the bands as much as I should have. Finally after a while, Deftones came on. I used to love them so I was glad to be able to see them. I haven't been keeping up with their releases but all the songs they played were really good. At one point, Chino went into Justin Timberlake's Sexyback, lol. Now the seats were almost all filled and the lawn was getting crowded. They played Change, so I was happy about that and I'll probably look into their music again. After quite a long break, Korn were on. The seats were all full and the lawn was packed. It was crazy how into it everyone was. It seemed like everyone knew the lyrics. I'm not really big on them other than a few songs, but they were definitely great! As I said before, I was so cold I just wanted it to be over but every once and a while I remembered who I was seeing and payed attention. It was so loud hahaha. All of them are really energetic and they sounded amazing; and for someone like me who doesn't really like them, they made it easy for me to start to. I was hoping they'd play Thoughtless but they didn't, but they did play Got the Life <3. As soon as they walked off stage we got up and started to leave because traffic would have been insase. We were thinking they were going to do an encore, making it a good time for us to leave, but I'm not sure if they did or not.

Overall, it was one kick ass first concert experience! Well, minus the temperature and misty rain. I don't think you can argue with a list of bands like that. They were all really enjoyable, even though I went pretty much for Dir en grey.

Dreamland- sorry to hear about your asthma >_< The weather was really bad though ;_; It's not supposed to be like that at the beginning of September :0

Princess_Of_Roses, I agree with chocopockymaster. You might be able to get cheap lawn tickets then sneak up into the seats. You could see really well from the lawn at DTE, atleast.

Well, just got back from the concert. Really good! Except for the fact that my friends and I ended up standing in front of a makeshift mosh pit >_<;;; Kind of annoying to have them behind us, since we were afraid one of them would push us down the hill...

We went to the meet-n-greet, but felt like it was mislabeled....it said that DeG was SIGNING so we were under the impression that they'd be doing that. Nope, just shook their hands and spoke briefly with them. It was Shinya and Kaoru there--I wanted to meet Toshiya and Die though Oh well, I'm glad I went.

Glad to hear you enjoyed them!

Yeah, waiting in line for the m&g, everyone was like, "I'll have them sign this..." Then a guy came out with a megaphone and said it would be just like at the other shows :/ You're lucky to have met Kaoru!

^ I was trying to speak Japanese with them but since they rush you through the lines...I stumbled on my saying "Domo Arigatou" to Shinya, so then I didn't say anything to Kaoru because I felt embarrassed >_<;;;

Kyo did the meet-n-greet at my show...and I hugged him. @__@ I said "Arigatou gozaimasu!" then shook his hand and hugged him...and then got out of the tent and thought I was going to faint. xD

But yeah. The security people were all like, "NO CAMERAS!!!" and people kept trying to sneak pictures, so Kyo actually left after about 7 minutes, and there were soooo many people that didn't even get up there. Oh well. They should have gotten there sooner.

^ Yeah, after awhile I guessed that DeG themselves didn't want pictures....that's probably why Kyo left after awhile x_x; He probably didn't like how they were being disrespected.

Yeah...my friends and I are really worried about them coming back to America again. Their fans over here are completely disrespectful, and it's really sad...like, before the concert, we were waiting to be let in, and Die walked out of the tour bus and this MOB of girls ran over and was all, "OMFG! DIE, WE LOVE YOU!!! <3333!" and they were trying to follow him and stuff, and I was like, "...leave him alone. x__x"

chocopockymaster, if you only knew how envious I was of you XD

I guess there's rumours of a Canada/US tour, so hopefully we won't have to worry about them not coming back ^_^!

^ Let's just hope the fans will behave a little more; I've heard that DeG just walked off the stage at several performances because they didn't like the crowd vibe.

From what I've seen/heard, I guess DeG is really into the whole "respect" thing--fans in Japan probably go just as wild over them, but they know to keep some composure at certain times. Seems like a lot of US fans are really...overly fangirl/boy-ish. o_o (Correct me if I'm wrong).

chocopockymaster, I'm also envious of you I wish I could have met Die.

^ That's better than nothing! I really wanted to meet him at the Meet-n-Greet It was still cool meeting Shinya/Kaoru, though.
