Hey! I'm looking for some J-Rock artists! I need recommendations!

Types of rock and artists I like:
- Ayumi Hamasaki's rock songs (pop rock)
- Tommy heavenly6 (punk rock)
- HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR (alternative)

Even though it's rock, most of rock songs I like have a touch of pop.

What I don't like very much:
- Screams
- Loud, annoying guitar solo
- Voice that are too high or too low
- Too much english

Rock artists I listen too:
- Shiina Ringo
- Tommy heavenly6
- Nana Kitade
- HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR
- L'Arc~en~Ciel
- fra-foa
- HYDE
- Cocco

Rock artists I don't think I'll like very much:
- Gackt
- miyavi
- Dir en grey
- MALICE MIZER
- PIERROT
- Psycho le Cému

I don't mind if it's a group or a solo singer. Male or female, it doesn't matter. But I do like a female voice a little more.

Thanks!

The only ones that I know is Gackt and miyavi.

Of them I can warmly recommend Gackt, miyavi is much heavier and he got some really nice tunes aswell.

Think you might like Kimura Kaela, she does punk rock and doesn't seem to do the things that you don't like. However, one or two of her songs do occasionally get a bit loud.

happiness!!!.mp3 Just a little sampler, in case you decide to give her a try.

Quruli, ORANGE RANGE (r&b/rap infused pop/rock), the pillows. Those are all male voices though. For female voices, noodles for pop/rock. There's also Kana, but her voice is really strange to listen to if you're a new listener & most people seem to either love her or hate her. Mean Machine is also a good band, it's made up of 5 girls, including YUKI (from JUDY AND MARY) and Chara. They've disbanded but their one album is amazing.

One can never go wrong with Ringo Shiina, Cocco, Chara, and fra-foa They make life worth living.

Try revisiting the former queen of J-rock, Nanase Aikawa, if you haven't yet. Gone were the days when artists of her caliber reigned supreme All we have nowadays are Johnny's J-groups!

Hikki has one exquisite pop/rock song from her Deep River album: Uso Mitaina I Love You. Hitomi has a lot of wonderful pop/rock songs that are quite similar to Ayu's stuff. Try her Love Life and huma-rhythm albums. Or just buy her singles collection: Self Portrait. I also slightly prefer Tomoko Kawase's material with The Brilliant Green to her Tommy songs. Try Love Psychedelico, Judy and Mary, and Luna Sea. Would you be interested in older J-rock? (from the 70s and 80s). How about progressive rock like Radiohead? If you do, I'd recommend Supercar and Miki Furukawa's solo album, Mirrors.

I don't like most of visual kei either, so I didn't include any here

I agree on that Shiina Ringo is a great artist, who definately deserves a try. Her voice is very special, though. I could never listen to her for too long.

Judging from this, I would suggest Spitz. They are not as popular among Western J-rock fans (but extremely popular in Japan), but their music is excellent and the singer's voice is so smooth and great. Most of their stuff is very mellow and catchy. They've been around since the mid 80's, so they have a lot of material. Even though they've been around for ages, their material still sounds fresh and modern. Since you like Laruku, I think you would like Spitz. If you want some songs, PM me.

She sings mostly in english. I don't know why, but I don't like when japanese singers use too much english.

I'll try Nanase Aikawa!

I'm already listening to Shiina Ringo, fra-foa and Cocco! And also hitomi, the brillant green and JUDY AND MARY! I consider hitomi and the brilliant green more "pop" even if they have a rock side too.

I already listen to SPITZ's music! I don't really consider their music "rock". Their sound is rather mellow, like you said. Kind of like REMIOROMEN.

^ LOL, yeah I know it. (I think I'm probably their biggest fan in AHS!)

I meant "there's no band that sounds like HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR".

Aha, okay, sorry for misunderstanding .

I've had them recommended to me a lot of times, but I never actually listened to them... I really should, some time.
