[article] When catching Mono is a good thing
Excerpt:
Quote:
It's been many years since Japanese instrumental, post-rock band MONO floated its way into the subconscious of the world's underground music scene, but the band's fan-base has continued to grow on the strength of the group's melancholy, extremely powerful music.
With sounds and tones that decay and swell in the same breath, and orchestral passages that are remembered hours after the show has ended, the band has been compared to other post-rock groups such as Mogwai.
Friday, MONO will take audiences on its artistic and often experimental musical roller-coaster ride during a show at the Village Tavern in Mount Pleasant. Bring your ear-plugs, because the band has a reputation for being very loud in concert.
In the middle of the group's tour in support of its latest album, "You Are There," we spoke to founding member and guitarist, Takaakira Goto about all things MONO.
