What ever happened to Shiina Ringo?

Where'd she go? I know absolutely nothing about her except that she used to be pretty popular around the same time as Namie. I'm just curious because waaaaaay long ago back in like...2001 I bought a CD of hers (I thought I was buying Namie >_<) and could NOT figure out what all the hype around her was about. I just couldn't find her music appealing. :/

But at any rate, I'm just wondering what happened to her? I haven't heard about her since I bought that CD, and I was wondering if anyone knew when she just sorta went off the market. Is she still singing? I don't think she is, but I just want to make sure.

If I'm not mistaken, she's with Tokyo Jihen now, and they've had some recent stuff.

Yeah. The last release of Tokyo Jihen was the Vinyl-Release of "Senkou Shoujo".

That came out in February last year, I believe, but Tokyo Jihen's last album came out much later than that.

Shiina Ringo is my personal god. Every night I pray to her and sacrifice young virgins in her name D: just sayin'.

But yeah after 2001 (after the release of Shouso Strip/Lawsuite Winning Strip), she released a cover album then in 03, Kalk Zamen Kuruki no Hana/Kalk Semen, Chest Nut flower. She was then in Tokyo Jihen but in 07 she released a new album with some of her old materia re-worked and with new volcals and some added new songs for the movie Sakuran. Tokyo Jihen's 3rd album came out most resently and it had songs that were composed and written by other members of the band.

I just had to come to say that I really like Shiina Ringo/Tokyo Jihen, her/their music was very important in a certain phase of my life back then. I even own Heisei Fuuzoku -album, it's simply amazing.

Shiina Ringo is pretty awesome. But I'm thinking that if you prefer stuff like Namie Amuro (not that you can't love both style) your probably won't like Shiina is much. Shiina is a rock artist.

Whoa, where have I been? I didn't know that Shiina joined Tokyo Jihen. XD Perhaps it's because I've just started to get into Shiina. O_O

^ T'was in November It's not too bad but my fave is still Dynamite Out. Daikai Ringohan Taikai no Moyou is pretty awesome too >w< Her solo work is genius. I swear, whenever she decides to do her final live, she better end with Ringo no Uta (original non-TJ) That would make me ball me eyes out!

The biggest mistake of her life was joining with Tokyo Jihen.....the only good song she was able to release as Tokyo Jihen was Shuraba...the single version (which is REALLY really good)...because the album version sucks.

^ I agree with you. While I can't say I don't enjoy TJ, but the music she made on her own is FAR better than what she's done with TJ.

^ I must admit that her TJ cannot be compared to her solo stuff but what I love about TJ is that they have fun with their music. (Not saying that Shiina doesn't but, I just get that vibe). It's all a matter of taste really, I can't change your opinions.

i think i might be the only one who thinks so, but i prefer the TJ sound over her solo stuff. i usually end up enjoying the TJ versions of her song over the original... like souretsu live was, in my opinion, more awesome and haunting than the original.
