The Official Leona Lewis Thread

So despite the fact that I originally thought Bleeding Love was a boring song, it's grown on me a lot and I now love it. It's number 1 on the US iTunes and it has been for I think more than a week now. That's really impressive for an artist debuting from a country besides the US. Spirit's releasing here on April 8, and I'll definitely be picking up a copy. I listened to the previews and they sound fantastic. I can't wait to hear the whole thing.

So who else here likes Leona? Do you think she's going to breakthrough in the US when she releases her album here? And do you think she may be the next potential Whitney or Mariah like everyone keeps saying? She certainly has the vocal prowess to match or even beat them when they were at their peaks.

She can ditch Europe and go off to America and then come back 3 years to find out no-one likes her anymore, like what happened to Natasha Bedingfield. Funny how she's suddenly getting famous on the West of the planet with a song that the East side got sick of months ago. Anyway, despite her being extremely talented her new double A-side here is crap and I'll expect people to be "so over her" once the next X-Factor airs over here, and she'll probably be a WHW in the US. I do like Better in Time though, I just don't like her anymore~

She has probably the biggest promo I've seen in awhile, I do like Bleeding Love but I don't think she'll have single to live up to that song off the album. she has timing on her side too, who else is releasing just now?

wannabe's will be put to their place soon when Mariahs next album is do

I hope she devotes time to both of those parts of the world, because I would like to see her be very successful. It's about time we had a new artist with a ton of talent breakthrough here. Rihanna was the last one and she's been here quite awhile now. She needs to release something new soon so she doesn't become old news. But anyways, I've never even liked Natasha Bedingfield to begin with. These Words and Unwritten were her only popular songs here. She was definitely a two hit wonder, and I don't see her coming back anytime soon.

I hope Leona manages to come out with consistently good material and remain a lasting power. It would be really tragic in my opinion if she were to become a one hit wonder. She has far too much talent for that. Natasha, she was never that great to begin with. But they release different singles in different parts of the world anyways, so they may not choose the "cruddy" double A-side they chose for the UK over here. I have a feeling that one of the future singles released here will be a non-ballad, R&B kind of track like Take a Bow. That sounded like a great song.

LOL, austin is so right.

Anyway, I'm really sick of her song and her album. It got played too much over here, and everytime I hear it I'm like "..." lol.

I wish her success though. British artists don't usually become hits when they debut in the US, but it looks like Lewis won't be one of those artists.

I like "Bleeding Love," but the rest of her album was kind of boring. "Take A Bow" was the only other song I listened to more than a couple of times.

I do like her voice, though.

Same for me. Great lead single, but I don't remember any of the other tracks on the album. I hope her second album includes more interesting material.

Her song is in the Billboard Top 10 so it looks like she's having success, but personally I'll wait for her second album before calling her the new Mariah.

I really like Leona, her album is really good, a bit boring with all that ballads, but really awesome.
"Bleeding Love", "Take A Bow", "Angel" and "I Will Be" are my favorites. <3
I hope she'll be loved in America, and if it won't happen, we'll be happy to see her in Europe again XD

so, she's got the no. 1 single on Billboard this week. it's apparently the first time in 20+ years that a British female has had a no. 1 single here.

congrats to her!

She's definitely a good singer, but I cannot understand how 'Bleeding Love' is a hit song. It is SO plain and boring.
I haven't listened to her other songs, though. She might have other ones I'd like!

The original mix of the song doesn't really do it for me but the remixes are to die for! It makes a really good house track. I can see her getting some success here in the US on the Top 40 stations and then retiring to the dance charts instead.

Her album is pretty bland IMO, but you might like "A Moment Like This". Her vocals are really good on it <3

I thought she was amazing on X-Factor.. but when I saw Bleeding Love as a Music Video + song.. I feel that she won't survive. I mean, she has no emotion in her face.. she is all over herself with touching and strange movements

She is not very special when it comes to the whole X-factor

and wtf is up with her being compared to Sharon from the Netherlands?
