What model(s) LUMIX cameras did Ayu advertise?

Ah yes, the magnetic wonders of celebrity endorsement. If I ever buy a camera for myself it would definitely be the featured Panasonic LUMIX FX-35. But then I noticed there was like a bazillion versions of the FX-35...o_o Anyone know which one exactly is the one Ayu uses in her CMs? (The most recent ones, at least)

the newer model is FX 37(GREEN CM) or known as FX 38 in some counties.

you can't really find 35 nowadays, it's been discontinue. FX 37 is better, the wide angle is 25mm, you can take it more images with that compae to FX35 with 28mm wide angle.

i would be very frank with you. do you really need such a good camera? coz it costs around USD$280. and if you just want a basic one, the FS series, like FS 5 is good enough, and it's USD$100 cheaper.
it's silly to pay another USD$100 more, when you don't use the full function, and moreover just forayu's endorsement....

trust me, i'm a camera promoter and i know my stuff

^ Sometimes people just want the newest thing out there so they don't have to constantly switch every year or because of new technology coming out. I bought the FX37 even though it costed me $265, I like having my 5x optical zoom and face detection. I usually take good care of my stuff so I don't expect it to break down until atleast a few years later.

well, face detection is a feature that every cameras have, and that FS 5 is quite new too.

and honestly speaking....in terms of picture quality, Canon is better.
Try using the digital zoom with lumix and a canon camera. You will find that the canon camera's pictures is sharper and clearer then lumix

yeah I agree with what Genie said in that Canon's better in terms of picture quality as I myself have a Canon camera

frankly speaking , are you going to buy a camera just because ayumi or some other artistes endorsed it or are you really in need to buy 1 to begin with ?

I did consider to buy a LUMIX before partly because of the fact that ayumi endorsed it but after I found out that it cost like what S$500 & above , it's so not worth it :O

eventually I bought the Canon IXUS80 for S$399 & that includes a 4GB memory card & a pouch which's OK for me

Panasonic's image quality has actually made a lot of improvements with its recent Lumix models. The difference isn't as drastic, its minimal enough that you can judge by whatever criteria you consider is 2nd most important. Most of the time, buyers consider design the 2nd most important. For some, its almost just as important as image quality. Like I really despise the look of Cybershots over the years, especially the ones without the retractable lens, I think that was the Carl Zeiss design? Not to mention most of those Cybershots lose out with that "innovative design" by having 3x optical.

I tested out the FX37 a few times in different store and I was pretty convinced. Sure, wasn't top notch image quality but there wasn't a lot of difference either as I tested Powershots next to me. Had a nice look and also had one of the fastest response times. I really didn't like how Powershots looked either. They are pretty ugly in my eyes. Since I like having a good mix of both, I felt it was worth the small bit of sacrifice for image quality and got the FX37.

Actually Karen, I won't deny I wanted the FX37 after seeing the GREEN CM, but I needed a camera at the time too so I made sure I considered all my available options.

I would have to say it depends on the model more-so the brand. I don't agree with the general statement a camera manufacturer is better than another. Each has their hits and misses. In the Panasonic range, I would definitely suggest the LX series if you want top notch quality in a point and shoot. The LX-1 onwards to the latest LX-3 is top notch in the optical department. Arguably even better than the Canon G-series. Also, the Panasonic FZ-50 is a masterpiece in optical design. Not tpoo many cameras can boast a tack-sharp 400mm F3.7 image stabilized lens.

I don't believe Ayu endorses either whchh is too bad because these are the creme de la creme of the Panasonic point and shoots.

Yes, I had been leaning towards Canon for quite a while. It's probably my choice if I don't get a LUMIX. And yes, I am indeed in desperate need of a camera since the one I have now is broken-ish and cheap. Panasonic is, after all, not too shabby when it comes to cameras. Now I'm not a pro-photographer so I don't know about technical stuff and I'd probably get annoyed carrying around a heavier camera. Of course they're beautiful and will get the best shots but I'm not at that level. The DMC FX-38 is an upgrade from my current camera (5.1 megapixel vs. 10.1), with all its fancy features such as a wide-angle lens and tracking modes. However, it's still a regular consumer-class digital camera (which isn't a bad thing, just saying). There are other cameras in the LUMIX line that are a step up from regular digital camera, that is the less-skinny-but-still-glamorous ones. 10x optical zoom sounds awfully nice.

So yeah, I'm kinda stuck.

The person who sold me the Canon camera did voiced out his opinions on the various brands of camera available on the market

he told me that Canon's still up there when comes to the quality of the pics that you get from taking pics in a camera whereas in the case of Sony , LUMIX , it's only the interior designs that stands out & that they don't tend to place a lot more emphasis on the quality of the pics

not to mention it doesn't help that Sony & LUMIX are more expensive for me to afford which's why eventually I went for Canon

Lol nah I think he just saw you were interested in that specific one so its easier to lock down the sale rather than making other camera suggestions. Not denying that it isn't true, but the person who sold me my Lumix said the Lumix brand recently is at the same level of Canon if not better. I told him "yeahhh, I don't believe you but I was probably going to buy this anyway".

Canon will always be #1 because their main business started from making optical products. Its been #1 for decades since the old fashion cameras and it will never change. Its just the gap between the other companies isn't as big anymore that people who prefer a good mix of design/image quality like me can go buy a non-Powershot and not have to suffer with much more grainy photos.

Perhaps back then Canon was cheaper but all new cameras from the three companies are atleast $300, so they are around the same price. I guess Canon could be cheaper if you think about it in a certain way. You can buy an older Powershot for cheaper and it could still be better than a Lumix/Cybershot.

^ well you're right yes . I did considered to get a Sony Cybershot but the functions & the price already turned me off big time

at least Canon's still reasonably priced for me to afford . I suppose if I have bit more $ on hand , I don't mind to consider a LUMIX
