Anyone Likes or Know May'n Here?
just like the title says, anyone likes may'n here????
 She's quite new actually, she debut in 08, but her popularity grow from [Macross Frontier]anime. Some info about May'n  -------------------------------------------- 20-year-old May’n was born on October 21st, 1989. At the age of 13, she took part in the “Horipro – Talent Scout Caravan – Love Music – Audition”, which was a prominent vocal audition (with some 35,000 applicants), and won it by demonstrating her stunning singing skills. May’n is her stage name, adapted from her given name of May Nakabayashi; it implies her wish to keep on singing, which would become the main themes in everyone’s hearts. In 2008, May’n performed as the singing voice of Sheryl Nome, the Diva of the Galaxy in the TV animation series “Macross Frontier”. In the same year, she released two singles that hit the Japanese Oricon weekly charts at number 3 in their debut weeks. May’n catapulted to fame since then. “May’n Street”, a long-awaited mini album, was released on January 21st, 2009. The album included “Blue” and “Iya, Iya”, both songs’ lyrics being written by May’n herself. The album also received large numbers of pre-orders. The demand for it has not gone down since being released, and got up to 2nd place in the Oricon weekly charts. “キミシニタモウコトナカレ”, opening theme to the TV anime Shangri La was released in May, made it into the Oricon top 10 charts.  ----------------------------------------- May'n had just release her first album [Styles] on 25th Nov, yes....it's the same day as alan's [My Life]. ^yup! My sis is a huge fan of her, she knew her through [Macross Frontier], and end up playing the songs everywhere....her ipod/laptop/TV/handphone ringtone....till i end up liking the songs too!
i'm just amaze at her voice! She's so good, especially live, i seriously can't believe that she debut last year only! in youtube, you can read that some japanese are comparing her voice to ayu, they said that her voice is very strong, which reminds them of ayu's vocals in her upbeat songs. but i have to say that ayu's vocals are softer then her, during ballads ayu voice is different.... no...may'n is no ayumi hamasaki. May'n is very unique, her popularity in Japan is rising crazily, 2 of her MF singles first press were even sold out before the release date at cdjapan!

^huh? her vocal was crap??? why....is there any translation or sub? coz as far as i know, May'n lyrics are not like those typical anime song....
hmm....or you wanna try those 3 videos that i posted above? her vocals are better in them.

I will look up some of her lyrics later, can't watch videos because I'm not at my home computer but from what I remember her vocals were pretty weak ,compareable to ayus vocals in recent SURREAL and evolution performances(AT08, CDL0809, TV performances of 2008)

well, if you are comparing within the first 2 years of debut, just like ayu back then. for me, i find that ayu's voice is a little too sqeaky and not as stable....(i hardly watch her CDL 00-01, because it's a little too sqeaky)i had see May'n live in singapore and her vocal is perfect when singing accapella, it's totally on tune! and it's a last minute encore demand by fans, there wasn't suppose to be an encore actually...so it's unrehearsal,and all i can ay is i'm blown away! It will be unfair to compare to the current ayu, she's getting better and better now. i'm proud of our ayu, she's the jpop utahime!

^oh i see, so you are comparing against ayu's bad lives, i thought you were refering to her better lives....
ha ha! but ayu vocals are still quite good like PCDL 'Powder Snow', 'In The Corner'

POWDER SNOW belongs to her easiest songs, In The Corner, though people don't like to hear that, is most likely playback, good vocal performances from PCDL were End of the World and Heartplace, aside that it pretty much was crap, but it's understandable, she was in pain, didn't have the time to rehearse properly and she was most likely on heavy painkillers. You can't really compare ayus concert performances with the ones from other people because we all know she likes to cheat a little by not singing live. Only the tv performances are "safe"

^that's true....some of ayu's concert lives can't be trusted, unless you were there.
but i disagree that powder snow is easy, some parts aren't easy for her current vocal now, the notes are quite high for her now. anyway back to topic: since, you can't watch video, i found 2 songs on imeem, i wonder can you play them? no, can't watch videos at all from this computer I'm using right now because it's a very old notebook(~10 years) it sometimes even has problems playing .mp3s
POWDER SNOW: reaching the notes isnt the problem for ayu,she still has a fairly good range, its reaching many notes in a short time like in basically all of her upbeat songs

I actually listened to her when she first debuted as May Nakabayashi, but then I thought she disappeared. However, when I was watching Macross Frontier, I figured out that she was Sheryl's singing voice, LOL. I like her Sheryl songs more that her earlier stuff. My favorite songs by her are Diamond Crevasse and Northern Cross.

i'm just curious how do people check those Oricon chart? i want to know how much did she sell for her Style album against alan's My Life? both are strong sellers, it's just then May'n more mainstream, while alan was more in oriental music, though she's getting more mainstream now...(i miss her VoE works, total epic)
