UNIVERSE VS PAST<FUTURE
UNIVERSE (koda Kumi) VS PAST<FUTURE(Namie)
both album released by Avex and have a similar genre. which one you prefer? I said Kuu because she has better song in UNIVERSE. nice ballad, great mid tempo and awesome upbeat song. she has beautiful voice. I do like P<F but for me it doesnt balance. too much upbeat song and only 1 slow song and I totally dislike TMOU. my vote for Kuu

I vote for PAST < FUTURE
UNIVERSE's downfall is the album tracks which doesn't seem to live up to the singles which were great & that's a pity

Lol I used to hate namies new album so much but listening to boas new album made me appreciate namies more, now I think it's pretty good and the low points of the album are better than kodas low points which are still some of the worst songs I've heard no matter how many bad boa songs I listen to lol. So I pick namie. Still, a really good album shouldn't make someone have to listen to some of the crappiest music ever to appreciate it so both aren't going to be favorites of mine

UNIVERSE is already in my running for best album of 2010 >.< It's seriously way too good. I DO like PAST<FUTURE, but there are too many tracks I skip when listening to it. UNIVERSE makes me wanna listen to almost every track.

Ok....let's get things straight....I am not a huge fan of Namie. I am a huge fan of Kumi. I hated Past<Future. I was actually looking forward towards its release...I was starting to get into Namie's music but this album really bored me and killed any interest I had in Namie.
That said...... Namie's album was ten times better than Kumi's. UNIVERSE had all the potential of becoming a great seller...it had some interesting tracks but unfortunately, it got tacked onto the Third Best as some sort of after thought. While I thought both artists dropped in quality of their music from their last albums, I felt that at the very least, Namie held onto a cohesive image in her album's production whereas Kumi was a mess. I'm still not a fan of Namie (yet). I am still a fan of Kumi. However, Namie's P<F definitely wins my vote. |

eh...I am not a fan of Namie's album. None of the tracks lived up to her status, and none of them are as epic as some of her past songs have been.
I appreciate her going in a new direction, but I think it was very amateur for someone who is used to creating catchy, fun, and professional tracks, as none of the tracks stood out to me, or are even memorable, and many of them were quite messy. It was sort of like NEXT LEVEL, everything was interesting and cool, but none of the tracks were particularly cohesive with all of their elements. I think she will perfect the sound she wants as she keeps going, but I dont really think this album is among her best. Koda's album, for me, was stronger because of the single tracks and some interesting renditions with genre on the album tracks...but it's still not an omg amazing album either, but at least one I can listen to more than half of, enjoy, and actually remember the songs :/ I also rank this album higher on kuu's list of albums, simple because it's enjoyable and easy to listen to and the tracks are quite individual...they dont really get as lost in the shuffle as a lot of her past album tracks do.
