Someone brought up a parallel to the Fukushima Daiichi Power Plant disaster which I can kind of see in the PV. Wonder if anyone else caught it.

I don't like it.

But not really for anything that's wrong with it. I don't think that it wasnt made well, or shot well, or anything like that.

I think she was really pretty in it. I was also telling brit brit on twitter, that I really appreciate all her feelings and stuff, and I know that this PV has a lot going on with both her life, and obviously things that are happening in it and around her.

But, idk, I'm just tired of her doing this for these songs. And actually, I did not like the pairing together. I liked the song earlier by itself, and I like the PV without the song.

Together, they're just too much for me. Too much over-contrived everything. And you know, that's okay. It conveys her feelings well enough and it's successful.

It's just not for me anymore.

there are a few things that bother me about the PV. i felt like the workers looked awkward in their marching and also that there wasn't enough Ayu time on screen. it needed more Ayu and a little more plot I think.

that being said, i still liked it a lot and i think there's a lot going on here. i was shocked at the ending honestly....so incredibly sad.

I absolutely love it! This is just like an old school ayu PV. And she's soo beautiful here! And all her emotions look very realistic for me. I love it, I love this song!

Omg this so much. I felt the same way, I need less white people acting weird and failing at it and more gorgeous ayu just singing away. We haven't had those kind of pvs like JEWEL for ages

Caught it right away.

My short thoughts:
The tank Ayu returns in is coming back to Japan (or decided to stay put) after the whole earthquake/tsunami disaster. Is she wearing black to mourn for the loss of her country? I can't 100% place my finger on it.

The situation in the nuclear power plant worsens. She decides she cannot leave Japan, and her heart is with the workers stuck there. A group of unknown volunteers (The Fukushima 50) assemble to continue to try to save the plant and Japan. Ayu was very impressed by the bravery they presented. She must have expected Mannie to come and support her through this difficult time. She goes through the unknown volunteers, hoping that one of them is Mannie and came to comfort her, but he cannot be found. She loses the picture, and loses her hope in him.

The person picking up the picture is MOST likely Mannie. However, we don't know if he was in that crew walking back to plant, or if he was just an outsider standing and observing. So it is kind of a double meaning. Maybe Mannie really didn't comfort Ayu and just stood and watched from afar. Or maybe this was Ayu's way of saying "You weren't there physically, but you were behind me 100%".

It's really left up for interpretation...

Return Road would be really awesome without the PV, it actually ruins the song imo
I hope Ayu will realize that 'Less is More' someday soon.
She just put too much unrelated thing on her videos which didn't lead listener to the feeling of the song at all

The picture was from Last angel (or love song...).
But I thought she said that Return Road wasn't going to be connected to Love Songs??? strange...
Other than that, the video is just filled with strange... I'm sure Ayu knows what she means... lol.
I can feel the lost of love and all that jazz... specially when she is running through the crowd looking for :cough: mannie :cough:
But oh well... I liked it, but at the same time, didn't.

It's really bad and it's kinda tacky to film such a music video before even divorcing your husband...the impression I get is that Manny thought they were still cool and married what with Super Manny...

Wow o_o. I really like that interpretation of yours. With this, I kinda find it easier to understand the ending and why she was looking through all those factory workers. Good job !

I wish the PV could've been a little more intricate (in terms of plot I guess). It certainly was disappointing...

Something similar to what happened to Marry The Night of Lady GaGa: the great concept was there but there was something missing. We needed more scenes, more ayu, more story, honestly after reading those tweets about ayu crying a lot to finish this i was expecting something more

^^^ I don't think that makes much sense unless ayumi was being delusion in the fact that mannie was going to come over.
I know she is looking for someone and it is mannie, but why in the volunteers?
I don't think they are volunteers... they are too uniform in the way they walk. I think the get up is suppose to make is thing that it might be them, but I also thing there is something there that we are missing.

That picture is definetely one of those that appear on the Love Song/Last Angel PV, so I think there's really a connection between this PV and the trilogy.

But I really love the interpretations that are being done here. It's great to see there are many ways to look at her PVs.

Umm I think the tank idea was great and yup connection to fukushima maybe but..The scenes where those dudes were playing and everyones ears broke or something what was that. I think it was rather... idk. This PV could've been so much more powerful. VR PV wins so badly, if I want to make a comparison. But she looked beautiful and I think the last scenes were touching and the ending too, if the whole PV would have been like that.. Buut I dunno. Maybe I need to watch it again.
