Her producer reassured her by saying that she sang as well as she expressed her feelings. Despite her initial trepidation, the singer's career quickly took off. Hamasaki's fame skyrocketed, and her image became larger than life. The singer was dumbfounded by her sudden fame. "The real me was so different," she expressed. The discrepancy between the person the public saw and the person she saw in the mirror led her to write songs such as "SEASONS" and "M".
