this is interesting but totally unexpected! too bad though i saw the trailer and the movie looks (no offense) kinda crappy... and i like comic book movies n so on. but we'll see, i'm still gonna watch the movie for ayu lol (just wishhhh this was happening for a better looking movie)

If you took the "Dragon Ball" title away and changed a few elements, I think that it'd be a pretty good stand alone kung fu flick.. but the application of DB's world to live action is just.. woaaaah.

Then again, it can't be as bad as the one made like 10+ years ago in Asia.

After seeing the new trailer i don't think the film looks bad at all. Seems like there going to do with Dragonball what they did with the resident evil movies. Stay semi-true to the lore while creating there own story elements. Like instead of mai, and pilaf having the flying fortress it's Piccolo, and Mai.

I think the film will live up to be, exactly what it is, and only can be.

What's the worse it could be? Can't be worse than the Mummy 3...or Twilight or something...

This movie needs to be extremely lucky if it wants to make anything near those 2 movies.

Is Dragon Ball even popular among kids anymore? It seems like the movie is 5 years too late. Or am I mixing it up with Pokemon... I can't keep track of these things.

Well the Mummy 3 was pretty bad. Kinda hard to top it. Can't say anything about Twilight since I'm avoiding it. I think Dragonball is still popular around teens and adults. It's a classic for mangas. My brother still watches Dragonball after school even though he's been watching it since he was a kid.

Also I've actually taken a look at the posters and stuff and they don't seem that bad as I imagined them to be. This might actually be quite good.

I haven't seen either of those movies, but this movie still screams box office bomb, especially with a 100 million dollar budget. The Mummy 3 had an opening weekend of 40 million dollars, Twilight around 70 million dollars if I remember correctly.

I don't care if this movie stinks, I just don't want it to bomb with her name on it.

I'd say that the most this movie can make in its first week is maybe 10 million or so.

It'll take a miracle for them to make 100 million+. I don't get why they decided on such a large budget in the first place tbh.

I don't think BLEACH, Naruto or any popular Shonen Manga would even exist if Dragonball wasn't created.

I don't really care how much the movie makes, just because a movie makes a ton of money does not make it good.

And Twilight is a PERFECT example.

The movie looks decent which is good enough for me, since I don't expect too much out of it, and never did.

I do, however, expect Ayu to come out with a song that is consistent with her quality of music.

She's excited over this, and so am I.

For me, some people who think that this is going to be bad for her just because the movie sucks are probably a little correct. Because everyone will remember how bad the movie was and not her. But I don't really expect people to remember the theme song so much...except all the people who are actually interested and know about Japanese anime, manga, and music.

All this is going to do, is give Ayu international credit. Maybe she'll gain some new fans, and that's great.

If it sucks, yeah it's sad whatever because she's associated with it. What would really suck...was if her song sucked as well, and she went down just with the movie.

Seriously...at this point, anything is really possible...and well...I'm just going to wait around for all of it...and I'm going to stop posting in this thread because it's just getting ridiculous and I've forgotten what I'm arguing already.

One thing I do hope: I hope they will eventually use her song in the trailers, like when KH came out....whichever it was.

A good example would be "SHINOBI"? I read it got the Japanese equivalent to the Golden Raspberry Award. And what? Nothing.
"HEAVEN" got No.1, it sold well, right? And it might be one of the most loved ayu ballad in recent years.
