thats why i looove ayu. . .or that i think shes a bit different. her voice is nowhere near the vocal abilities of alan. . .and smae with that of the lovely utada hikaru. . .singers with wonderful voices more easily set themselves apart. but ayu does that on her own as someone said lyrics and emotion. . .
and i love all of ayus styles ^__~ |

Bringing this from the grave since it's related.
I'm seriously curious why Keizo Kuroda left the Ayu team... (and was replaced by Gori / Kazuyoshi Takahashi... probably he wanted to move on or something? Then again, he left at about the same time her old stylist did.) ![]() http://ameblo.jp/kurodakeizo/page-34.html#main FFFFFFU. Keizo and Kazuyoshi huh~ (This is the man responsible for just about every Ayu look from poker face to (miss)understood basically)

I'm kinda sick of the ultimate-diva, super-mature look she had going on for the past few years... I mean, it worked great for the (miss)understood era and such, and it was awesome for her anniversary, but I've been officially tired of it. >_<' However, she has cooled it down a lot the past year or so, so that's cool. As a matter of fact, she's had some pretty different style choices in different shoots lately. I like it.

It's the "look" she's had recently.
Like, tons of eyeliner, super luxurious outfits, etc. She's kinda toned back on the outfits though so now they're not a million dollars per piece. One dress in the ViVi I own was ... really really expensive, haha.

I haven't seen any diva shots of her for a while now. It's either rock or pretty flowery dresses. It's probably since Kazu hasn't been shooting with her. His theme most of the time is "fierce diva" which ayu has a hard time pulling off sometimes, because that isn't really her personality.

Yeah, all I meant was, she had the whole mega-glam thing going on, with the glam makeup and extravagant, fancy outfits. Not that she was being, in the traditional sense, 'diva-ish'. ^^' But yeah, like Identity said, she hasn't been doing them lately (yay

She's always worn tons of makeup, and if anything it looks pretty natural on her. You can obviously tell she has on eyeliner and a set or 2 of fake lashes, but by no means do I consider that "diva". Fake lashes and eyeliner are meant to make your eyes look a certain way, in Ayu's case, bigger. To me right now she's the farthest from "diva". When I looked at the latest SCawaii scans and saw some comments about how her makeup looked heavy, I couldn't help but laugh and raise a brow. ![]()

It was extra feathery compared to the previous shoots.
![]() I think they used more liner and an extra set of fake lashes. Recently, it hasn't been divaish at all. Mostly because I think Kazuyoshi isn't taking the photos, but she had a very long period where she had (bad) modelface/a diva style to her wardrobe. It's so refreshing how ND CHOW and other photographers started doing her stuff again.

Her eyelashes look the same as usual in shoots to me. She usually has the fake lashes and they look all super long etc. Maybe you're just noticing them more because they're close up and you can see them better?

I love her glam diva look...
but Kazu just did it all wrong... Her style has been consistent with fashion and it's changing trends...and also her own little mini-trends, like the floral + rock outfits lately... to me she's always been glam when she wasnt being cute with a foxtail or something lol The only thing that really changed for me was her expressions ![]() @Shiseido: Fake lashes, especially really nice ones, barely gained a lot of popularity in very recent years...same with say, liquid eyeliners, though that's been out longer... I don't agree with the glam designer "any rich person can wear those clothes" ....that's just like, discrimination. All clothes are just art, and apart of your individuality...Higher designers just have more munny, they have more expensive materials, better quality of production, etc. Ayu chooses her clothes and so they are all apart of who she is and her image. Just because something is designer doesn't necessarily make it "glam" although, I guess to some people it does. Glam is a style...and I think there are a ton of designers who would be offended that their clothes were labeled "glam" just because they were expensive. Designer clothes are just another tool to express yourself...just because you wear them doesn't mean you lack creativity. That's ridiculous. You might as well just make your own clothes if you think that...since all clothes are pretty much "produced" and clothes that aren't high fashion, are actually pretty much molded from the colors, materials, and textures on the runways or other shows...so if you aren't wearing a designer, you're usually wearing a watered down copy. Which in the end...shouldn't matter, because it's how you wear them and how you express yourself through them...and Ayu has always had individuality in her clothes, at least in my opinion.

But in the end, I think such clothes are rather used by people that attempt to be "someone". If your aura and your kind of speaking is outstanding from others, you don't need to blind people with fashion brands. I often have this experience in the city. I met a person which seems totally attractive to me and after a while, I recognize, I do not even remember what clothes that person has been wearing because it was simply that special something, yes, let's call it aura. This is also something, I have been criticizing since quite a while, as my view of the point is, that Ayu's style has been changed in a way, no longer able to be called as an authentic look. I mean, sorry, but Ayu's style got more and more sexual, which I personally don't like. Simply because -in my opinion- Ayu is everything but not SEXY, even if she sometimes tries to. She's small, has got that baby-face and often voice-acting like a little girl; I call this uber-cute (perfect for me) but not sexy. So... I did like Ayu's weird style era more... (recently watched the Concert Tour 2000 A Vol.1 and my fav. dress was that white one 'monochrome performance') Last edited by channy; 15th May 2010 at 11:09 PM. |

I understand your point about people trying to be someone...but Ayu really isn't like that.
I don't think her look is unauthentic either...both for concerts, mag shoots, and her regular clothes. tbh...I mean, I don't want to be like condescending...but I don't really think you have a feel for who Ayu is...Her clothes reflect her personality very much....especially since, like everyone, there are multiple facets to who she is...the "cute" image is such a small part... I guess we just have a difference of opinions...but I personally love all of the images Ayu throws at us...and I think they all affect her style every now and then, and I think that's great. She looks great, and she feels good, and that's really what matters when it comes to people's individual styles. I would never want her to feel like she has to wear this or that...just because some of her fans don't think her style is authentic or that it isn't suited to who she is... Besides...I think Ayu is too stubborn and spoiled to ever put on something she doesn't like and is uncomfortable in lol which is why I'm confident about her choices...even when I don't like them.

Someone says that they try to make her more mature. THERE IS EXACTLY the opposite.
They try to make her like some kind of "luxury" teen. She looked more mature with the sporty look with 'cool' (not so fashioned) clothes and normal face. Now she looks like "old and young" in the same time, glamorous and so itty-bitty-cute in same. I felt in love with casual ayu in short hair, then in pretty Ayu in RAINBOW era (and then in the every look in dark hair ![]() |

frankly. its like. if i were to start wearing expensive designer brands like what ayu may wear, because i thought they looked good, does it make me non-authentic because i wanted to wear something i liked? thats part of what i think in regards to what ShiShiedo said. really whatever she wants to wear is whatever she wants to wear. and that goes for anyone really. however they want to express themselves. just because its mega expensive doesnt make them non-unique. what then is unique? and also ShiShiedo, did u really think the white dress in the monochrome performance was that unique or "wierd"? |
