Ayumi's New Single (Bold & Delicious) becoming too American?
After listening and watching some of ayu's songs on her new single Bold and Delicious, i have noticed that it is very American. With the church type of chorus in the background accompanying her with she sings. To me that is very American. Also the song style of Bold and Delicious is very American. Like a church type of song.
I don't know what you guys think but i think Ayu got Americanalized!

new style...and? i think many japanese artists, or artists from everywhere, have an interest in America, however because of all the language barriers, they're never gonna make it...even though its sad

well It's written by this guy that was in SWEETBOX his name is GEO. And he is from Germany so I would say yeah it's a pretty "Westernized" song. And this Geo guy has done a lot of amazing stuff. And in Asia ayu isn't the first one that has tried his music. In Taiwan there is a group call S.H.E they have also sang songs that's written by GEO. For example, Superstar, Remember, Always on my mind and many more. So I would say yeah ayu is trying a very interesting style that's from the West. But then I kind of have to say that ayu was already very interested in Western stuff for a long time. So I wouldn't say that NOW ayu is being Westernized.

Hmm, it is rather westernized.. but it's not a big deal... her singing is still good, although I am hoping that she isn't going to keep this style..
with the choir behind her and all |

And I agree with AznWizKidz! And I don't like it at all! Ye-a, Ayu loves NY and LA, yes, she likes America, ye-a, she always was non-Japanese-like, but still...now, when she's grown-up, she has more opportunity to do whatever she wants, so...as much time will pass by-so much Ayu will Americanise.
I don't say it's bad, but it's somehow...sad...like she's losing herself, her individuality! |

I thought places like NY and LA were popular for Japanese people?
Plus I remember when Evolution came out and everyone loved that it was kinda American-ish... Actually I didn't mind the PV being in NY, I just minded it being on the back of a semi... riding through the street... wasn't that interesting! ![]() I actually didn't mind Ayu doing a gospel song... I was kinda excited... BUT B&D is not really gospel... just got gospel-ish singers in the backgroud : / I think if Ayu went REAL gospel it could be awesome!

The question should be "What isn't Americanized today?" Kumi, BoA, Hikki, Namie, Mai Kuraki -- I could go on -- all have an American sound. What's wrong with that?

ALL J-pop and J-rock is Westernized, at least to a degree. J-pop is influenced directly from Western music, and there's really nothing wrong with it.

If Ayu new songs are "americanized" than what are Koda Kumi, BoA and Namie Amuro songs? Yes, both songs from the "B&D" single have the "church-like" theme. What makes it "american"? I don't get it. Because it's "church-sounding" it means that it's "american"? So only american can have the gospel background singers? I don't think so. And "Pride" does not sound american, at all. That's like saying "HEAVEN" sounds american...
I say, if you're not happy with it, than don't listen to it. Ayu is NOT gonna please everybody.

I don't think Pride sounds 'church like' ... sure it has a choir... but a handful of japanese songs have choirs... look at forgiveness... choir ![]() the thing that seperates me from American music is not the beat or music itself... but the lyrics... I personally think Ayu's lyrics are way more heartfelt and meaningful that most American songs

I don't think she's getting americanized, and so what if she is? A lot of japanese are interested in western things. It's like westerners interested in japanese things.
And I agree that if anything it's "westernized" not "americanized" |

I'm not suprised. Besides. Bringing the american style into japan isn't such a bad idea to get the sales up right? ;D It's different!
