She performed Startin at the CDL because the videogame Onimusha was released in january 14.. its a close date.. not a year

and why just hawaii.. there are TONS of places that look the same all around the world

I liked the idea someone put out about a mermaid or something. She doesn't even swim. Well, there's jumping in the water, but there's no swimming. They could've done more than just jumping around on a boat.

NO it's nonthing like FAIRYLAND!! It's soo much better than fairyland to tell the truth and overall I really enjoyed the PV it was back to the basic it was just fun and interesting to watch and I think a lot of times it's better to be back to the basic things!! I REALLY LOVE IT!! A+!!!

"BLUE BIRD" is a pop song, not just a summer song. It doesn't have to take place in a beach. I could very much see Ayu on the streets with friends having fun, splashing people with water guns, Ayu singing in a karaoke bar, doing silly stuff... If she's going to be in a beach, she could have at least done something cooler like singing with her band barefoot.

Hummm, I remember a few weeks ago, I said: "I hope the PV doesn't take place in a tropical/exotic island or something like that!". And now it is.

Well, I don't think they filmed the video a year ago... They would need to have the song a year ago as well... I think that would be going way too far ahead of schedule - to film a PV year ahead.

The pics from (miss)understood booklet seem to be from the Fairyland peroid. On the other hand, that would mean they shot them almost half a year ahead : It's confusing...

As for singing Startin', she sang it on CDL, which was like... day before album's release, I think?...

Last year there was a similar situation -- she was touring, she sang STEPyou at the tour and right after the tour she released STEPyou/is this LOVE? along with two PVs. Although, I suppouse they were way easier to film, I think it's possible they could go filming during the tour. Haven't checked out the schedule carefully enough, but I think they do have some spare time between some of the performances.

I thought it looked a lot like fairyland.. but I actually like this clip better for some reason.... it seems as though her dancers were paid to go on a holiday.. lucky people!

I agree with this. Its just that she keeps on giving us this "one" genre of summer songs, that just happen to create tons of images about the beach, etc. There is more than one way to create a summer song, and that is what she needs to work on. Something like Chihiro Onitsuka's "Sign" comes to mind. I would absolutely die if Ayu made a song like that, it'd be wonderful.

I guess Avex forgot they could use some computer animation to make the PV just a bit more interesting. Oh wellll

Yeah well I didn't say this song had to be in a beach. I just mentioned that this type of song is expected to have a setting which is happy and stuff like that and the beach is one of those. Demure_Dusk, you're just saying that it should be at a beach. Shame her last two summer(ish) pop songs were at a beach. Lack of ideas, it seems. It's already been played out. She needs to move on. The formula is getting old.

But she wrote in DejiDeji that she was filming two PVs in june.. So I assume this was one of them? Nevertheless, it's interesting whats been pointd out. She does remind me of the fariyland-period (her hair is the same etc etc) And that can also explain the Hawaiian-scenery. Maybe we'll know in thr making-of clip! Still, I doubt it is a year old

No I'm just saying that this kind of song gets a summerish setting but it seems many don't seem to get this. I agree it's not original but I don't think there are many alternative settings for happy summer songs such as there are for deeper songs/ballads, etc.

Also I find it doubtful that this pv was filmed a year ago.

I'm actually wondering if some of the footage was actually shot last year in Hawaii. When I get some time I'm gonna look at those Hawaii pictures and compare. But at first glance, everyones hair looks the same as before, outfits look familiar etc etc. Even Ayu's tan line is the same. So I'll see, when I get more time to really go back and compare.

Many of the shots in this video could have been done without having the song first. There aren't too many shots in it where Ayu is cleary singing the words to the song.

I think it's a bit weird that people think it doesn't belong on a beach when she's so obviously talking about a beach in the song.. >>
